Abstract:
Unity is a powerful engine, but its unique lifecycle and continuous execution model can feel like unfamiliar territory. In this session, we will explore the mindset shift required to write performant C# code inside a real-time engine.

We will start with the fundamental Unity lifecycle and quickly dive into common performance pitfalls within the game loop, including unmanaged per-frame execution and hidden memory allocations. Through practical code examples, I will demonstrate how to stabilize your frame rate and minimize overhead. We will explore solutions ranging from simple code-level tweaks to broader structural designs.

Finally, we will examine how asynchronous programming operates within this unique environment. We’ll look at why standard .NET async features don't always translate perfectly to a game engine, and how the Unity ecosystem has evolved its own highly efficient solutions to handle asynchronous tasks. Whether you are curious about game dev or just want to see C# pushed to its limits, this talk will provide practical engineering insights.
