Feb. 23 - Jan Hanneman and Thomas Lewis - Windows Phone Workshop
Details
The workshop has two general presentations. One as an introduction to Windows Phone development and another one on the most important pattern for any XAML development, MVVM. Throughout the day developer can follow the scheduled labs, do other labs or code on their own app. Each scheduled lab will have a short introduction/motivation to the topic. In between we are there to help Devs with labs or their own apps.
Members should bring a laptop that has the WP8 SDK installed. The SDK brings a VS 2012 Express edition and works as add-in to an existing VS 2012 installation. Here the link and the system requirements: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35471
You can install the WP SDK available here https://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us/downloadsdk In case people don’t have the required hardware for WP8, the WP7.1 SDK will also do it. Almost every lab is the same for both versions.
If you are having trouble getting it install, someone should be able to help you at the event.

Speaker:
Jan Hanneman is a .NET enthusiast with great passion for technology. He is a graduated Computer Scientist originally from Germany, who immigrated to Canada in 2008. From the very beginning of his career he worked on the Microsoft stack and became an expert and lover of .NET technologies. In the last years he worked on large scale research Genomics projects during the day and on award winning Silverlight and Windows Phone software during the night.
As a Nokia Developer Ambassador he shares his knowledge and excitement with the community. Jan Hannemann is ready to assist you with writing the next big app for the Windows Phone platform.
Tommy Lewis is a Technical Evangelist at Microsoft who at 8 years old thought that there was a frog apocalypse happening in his yard. It just turned out that the rain made all the frogs come out and hop around. He has been at Microsoft for over 12 years and has evangelized everything from Visual Basic 6 to HTML5 to Design for web developers and designers world-wide. He even once ate a "century egg" while in China. When not talking about the brutality of HTML5, Design and Windows 8, he enjoys his family, wine, death metal and all things 80's. He is also bent on eradicating IE6 from the planet and will never stop, never.
