#### PURPOSE
Death Cafe is:
A place where people, often strangers, gather to sip, eat and discuss death talk.
• Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
• A group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. The format is meant to be flexible, lightweight, and straightforward.
Death Café is not:
• Not a bereavement support or grief counselling setting.
• Not an opportunity to give people information about death and dying – regardless of how good or important it is. This is a time to discuss death without expectations.
• Not a place for guest speakers or distribution of information materials.
• Death café does not work for people who, for whatever reason, aren’t able to discuss death comfortably and openly.
• Death Café does not work as a method of community engagement, research, or consultation.
#### LOCATION
I understand your time and resources are valuable, I am offering 2 death café’s: mid-week and on the weekend.
South Side Death Café Meetup location: every 3rd Saturday of the month, afternoon

TIME: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
PARKING:
· North of 118 Street in the residential area.
· Turn into right the alley behind the Square 1 coffee where the construction is, then right into Windsor House parking, It’s okay to park there. 8 parking spots available. Parking spots may be occupied upon arrival.
BUS STOPS: Short walking distance
LRT STOP: Health Sciences/Jubilee, closest stop, 8 blocks away
COFFEE $: Moderate
TREATS $: Moderate
CAFÉ NOISE: Low to moderate
SEATING AREA: 2nd floor, mix of half back wooden chairs and wooden stools

Venues request No outside food or drinks. Patronizing Square 1 Coffee as a way of saying thank you to the business for giving us this space for FREE.

#### MEEETUP REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Attendee Limit
Limited to 10 guests. Venue rules. Time for everyone to gets an opportunity to “hold space” for those who have spoken or contributed.

- If you'd like to invite a friend, partner, family member, or anyone curious about joining the discussion over coffee and treats.
No drop ins allowed
- Respecting the registration process for attendees and keeping it organized.

Waitlist
In the event that the death Café has been filled. Meetup will add you to the waitlist. If an attendee changes their RSVP to "No," the first person on the waitlist is automatically moved to "Going".

#### HOST OBJECTIVES
I’m drawn to Death Cafe for the rare chance to have six-foot-deep conversations about death—bold, honest, and unafraid—venturing into territory where everyday talk rarely goes. These gatherings remind us we’re not alone in facing our finite lives; sharing openly dissolves isolation and fosters real human connection, far more nourishing than any digital exchange.
As a host, I’m committed to consistency because it builds trust. I am hosting two Death Cafés per month from March to December 2026, and after a two-year pause, I’m resurrecting them with renewed dedication—aiming for regular, reliable events again starting now.
I value being organized (about 90% structure, 10% beautiful chaos) so everyone feels respected, welcomed, and safe to speak from the heart. Whether you’re here out of curiosity, reflection, or simply the desire to live more fully knowing death awaits, I’m grateful to hold this space with you. Let’s talk about what matters.
