Talk #2 by Joseph Niemiec, co-author YARN book (1:15 minutes)
Attendees will get an overall view of what inspired the creation of YARN. This will detail the scalability enabled by YARN, effect on MapReduce and potential power custom app development. A review of the most critical part of YARN the 'container' will be detailed in a more basic level. Concept app MemcacheD and/or another will be demoed. Finnaly a review of new road map futures do to be out soon. If there is time a look at some crazy future thoughts with Hadoop and YARN.

Joseph Niemiec is a Big Data Solutions Engineer and one of the Authors of Apache Hadoop YARN book. His main focus is designing Hadoop solutions for many Fortune 1000 companies. In this position, Joseph has worked with customers to build multiple YARN applications providing a unique perspective on moving customers beyond batch processing, and working on YARN development directly. An avid technologist, Joseph has been focussed on technology innovations since 2001. His interest in data analytics originally started in game score optimization as a teenager, and has shifted to helping customers uptake new technology innovations such as Hadoop, and most recently building new data applications using YARN. Before working with Hadoop, Joseph worked in the Middleware space as a contractor developing SOA for a Global Fortune 100 company.
