March 2021 NYSCATE Virtual Meetup
Details
NYSCATE and the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) are co-hosting a March Meetup! Join us online (details coming soon) to learn about an exciting joint venture around a hands-on experiential science curriculum for middle school physics that embeds content and skills that support the NYSED Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards and the Science Learning Standards.
The schedule for the evening is:
- Representatives from NYSCI (https://nysci.org/) will talk about their collaboration with NYSCATE to use technology to bring physics to life through play. In addition, learn the latest news about their virtual exhibits and plans for reopening their doors this Spring! (Visit https://www.playgroundphysics.org/ for information before the event.)
- Maureen Smith, from Broome-Tioga BOCES and a Playground Physics Coach, will share her experiences with the app/curriculum and how it helps middle school students achieve the NYS Science Learning Standards.
- Dr. Andrea Tejedor, HVEdTech Host & NYSCATE HV Director, will provide information on how Playground Physics connects to the NYSED Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards (specifically computational thinking!) and how schools can get involved.
- In the HVEdTech Showcase, all participants will have time to share their latest work around edtech!
Stay tuned for more information.
