Welcome to Effective Altruism Prague Meetups! Effective Altruism is a school of thought and a global movement of people who realize that they do not have infinite time, money, and energy, but want to help the world as much as possible.
Some charities can have 100 times more impact than others for the same donations. If you your donations to cause as much positive impact as possible, it fundamentally depends on which charities you choose. Similarly, you can significantly increase your impact by choosing the right career path.
We love to meet people who care about making the world a better place and also want to make the biggest impact with their work or donations. We discuss the world's most pressing issues, career paths, research, rationality, and the most effective global charities.

Should you attend?
We prioritize attendees from Central and Eastern Europe to build the local community and connections across the region. However, we also welcome experienced EAs from around the world who can bring valuable perspectives and mentorship to the event.
Check if you fall into one of these categories:
- You are new here, but it feels like your cause. While you might not yet have enough context to fully benefit from the conference, you can still apply and build that context on your own or by joining our EA Introductory Program 🇨🇿.
- You know the ropes but feel stuck. You want to have more impact but are held back by uncertainty, lacking clarity, skills, connections, or motivation.
- You are a seasoned EA. You want to scale up your initiatives with the right people. You are keen to share your experience to empower others.

Application process
We create maximum impact by thoughtfully selecting 350 attendees who can mutually support and inspire one another.
- Express your interest (1 minute) Applications are not open yet, but you can leave us your email, and we’ll notify you as soon as the application process begins.
- Complete the application (5-60 minutes) We collect basic details about your interests and engagement with effective altruism. Keep it brief if your online presence covers you well. Provide more detail if there’s a crucial consideration we might overlook. Application deadline: extended until May 2, 2025.
- We will review your application. Regardless of the outcome, we’ll get back to you within 5 business days.
- Register for the conference (5 minutes) If you’ve been accepted, you’ll receive an email with a link to register and confirm your place at the conference. At this stage, you’ll be asked to provide dietary requirements and additional logistic details, and have the option of donating to offset event costs.

We’ve selected cause areas that will take center stage:
- AI Safety and Governance: Delving into the technical and philosophical dimensions of AI safety and governance.
- AI Autocracy: Investigating how AI impacts the balance between democratic ideals and authoritarian regimes.
- Biosecurity: Fortifying global defenses against biological threats.
- Animal Welfare: Tackling the immense suffering of trillions of animals in factory farms.
Additionally, expect content on Global Health, Effective Giving, Global Priorities Research, and Improving Institutional Decision-Making.
Cause areas matter, but so do you. Let’s go meta:
- Human-Centered EA: We’re all human, after all. How can you maintain a sustainable EA lifestyle? Join talks, panels, and workshops.
- ools for Impact: Hands-on workshops to refine your skills in evaluation and monitoring.
