Effective Altruism in the Netherlands

​Het recente wegvallen van USAID-noodhulp en -financiering is een ramp die de levens bedreigt van talloze mensen die afhankelijk zijn van USAID-diensten zoals noodvoedselvoorziening en basale gezondheidszorg.
​USAID heeft met controverses te maken gehad en er is dringend behoefte aan systemische verandering in ontwikkelingshulp. Maar het abrupt beëindigen van de steun leidt ontegenzeggelijk tot enorm veel onnodig lijden, doden en geldverspilling.
​GiveWell heeft in reactie op het gat dat is geslagen een noodfonds opgericht. Ook is het Bridge Fund in het leven geroepen.
​Wat is de rol van Effectief Altruïsme hier, wat zou die moeten zijn? Welke acties kunnen we ondernemen? Denk en discussieer mee!

​The recent loss of USAID emergency aid and funding is a disaster that threatens the lives of countless people who rely on USAID services such as emergency food supplies and basic health care.
​USAID has faced controversy, and there is an urgent need for systemic change in development aid. However, the abrupt termination of aid will undoubtedly lead to enormous unnecessary suffering, deaths, and wasted resources.
​GiveWell has established an emergency fund in response to this gap. The Bridge Fund has also been established.
​What is the role of Effective Altruism here, and what should it be? What actions can we take? Join the discussion!
