Introduction & Personal Updates

We start each meeting by going around the table and giving updates about EA-related events in our personal lives, followed by plans until the next meetup. The idea is to share activities the group might be interested in and encourage each other.

Artificial Intelligence

This meetup will focus on advanced artificial intelligence as a source of existential risk (and as a potential solution). A direct extrapolation of Moore's law would bring computers with processing power comparable to that of humans within reach of major organisations by 2030, with no signs of stopping. What happens when we find ways to use that processing power more efficiently than the human brain? And how can we have a positive effect on that outcome? Find out more in our group's first foray into the high risk, high reward field of existential risks.

Practical

We'll continue to meet in the afternoon at Film Café Oscar since it seems to be quiet and convenient. If you have trouble finding us you can reach Devin at 06-5025-4214.
