Effective Altruism Miami - Crispr'ing Green Yeast

Hosted By
Ryan and Zoheb A.

Details
This month we will be inserting the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) gene into Saccharomyces cerevisiae (brewing yeast) to familiarize ourselves with genetic engineering techniques as a precursor to our cellulose digestion project. This will be our first step to ending famine as we know it (hopefully)!
All materials will be provided, so just come ready to learn and try something new!
No prior knowledge is needed, and we encourage you to attend if you feel uncertain.
When: Saturday, May 18 from 1-3 p.m.
Where: Coconut Grove Branch Library @ 2875 McFarlane Rd, Miami, FL 33133
- We will be in the Adult Reading Room at a table with an “EA Miami” sign.
- If you get lost, please ask the librarian to direct you to the EA Miami meeting or reach out at [effectivealtruismmiami@gmail.com](mailto:effectivealtruismmiami@gmail.com) or through Signal.
