You're cordially invited to a talk by Jacy Reese on The End of Animal Farming!
Today there's widespread agreement that factory farming is devastating for human and animal welfare. Jacy Reese's talk, which accompanies his book of the same title, will trace out the strategic roadmap that seems most likely to end factory farming. For instance, clean meat — real meat made from animal cells without animal slaughter — and social solutions informed by breakthroughs and historical successes will eventually allow for an ethical and efficient food system where slaughterhouses are obsolete.
Jacy Reese is the Research Director and Co-Founder of Sentience Institute, a nonprofit think tank researching the most effective strategies for expanding humanity's moral circle. He previously served as Board Chair and as a researcher at Animal Charity Evaluators. His writing has appeared in Vox, Salon, and the Quartz, and he has presented his research to academic and nonprofit audiences in fifteen countries.
After the talk, we will have time for a Q&A, and you can hang around and mingle with the other guests for discussions about EA topics or just a chat. Vegan snacks and drinks will be provided, as usual.
