EA Meetup With Talks

In der EA-Bewegung werden häufig Argumente diskutiert, die besagen, dass die ferne Zukunft eine sehr große Rolle in unserem ethischen Denken haben sollte. Doch sehr schnell findet man sich bei solchen Gedankengängen in philosophischen Verwirrungen wieder. Deshalb gibt es in diesem Meetup einen Workshop zu Dilemmas in Zusammenhang mit zukünftigen Generationen: den Problemen, die auftreten, wenn wir auch das Wohl von Menschen betrachten, die noch nicht geboren wurden. Macht euch bereit, philosophische Probleme zu entdecken, von denen ihr nicht wusstet, dass ihr sie habt!

Wie gewöhnlich starten wir den Abend um 18:30 Uhr mit einem kurzen allgemeinen Einführungsvortrag zum Effektiven Altruismus. Dieser ist besonders für Neulinge geeignet. Danach geht es um 19 Uhr weiter mit dem Hauptthema des Abends, zu dem man auch nachkommen kann. Im Anschluss kann bei Snacks und Getränken noch ausgiebig weiterdiskutiert werden.

In the EA movement it is frequently argued that the far future should feature heavily in our thinking on ethics. However, reasoning along this lines can quickly lead into muddy philosophical waters. To help wtih this, a member of the Munich EA group will facilitate a workshop that explores future generation dilemmas: the problems that arise when we want to consider also people that have not been born yet in our moral calculus. Prepare to discover philosophical problems you didn't know you had!

As usual, we begin at 18:30 with a short introductory talk on Effective Altruism in general. This is especially useful if you are new to the topic. After the introductory talk, around 19:00 we'll move on to the main topic of the evening. You can then grab some snacks and drinks, meet people, and engage in discussions about Effective Altruism or anything else you are interested in.
