Dear friends of Effective Altruism,

We are excited to invite you to our next monthly meet-up!

This month we'll be hosting short Lightning Talks from four speakers of our community:

  • Matt Putz: Expected impact of founding a startup
  • Jonas Wagner: What technology could you create to help charities like AMF?
  • Benedikt S. Vogler: Revisiting the idea of Mündigkeit in the dawn of the age of artificial intelligence systems
  • Adrian Regenfuß: End of last year, I read “Moral Uncertainty” by Bykvist, Ord and MacAskill. I found it very interesting and important, and want to share reasons for and methods useful within Moral Uncertainty, as well as discuss counterarguments.

Just as in the previous months, the meet-up will take place online via video conference at https://meet.ealokal.de/EffectiveAltruismMunich

We will leave out the introductory talk and dive directly into the main topic at 19:00. After the talk and Q&A, there will be an opportunity to have a discussion and socialise.

People who are unfamiliar with Effective Altruism are encouraged to watch “What are the most important moral problems of our time?” by one of the founders of Effective Altruism, Will MacAskill, or the longer talk “Prospecting for Gold” by Ajeya Cotra as introductions to the topic.

Dieses Mal werden wir vier kurze Vorträge aus unserer Community haben:

Wegen der derzeitigen Pandemie wird dieses Meetup online als Videokonferenz stattfinden. Wir werden den Einführungsvortrag auslassen und direkt mit dem des Abends um 19:00 anfangen.

Sollte man mit Effektivem Altruismus nicht vertraut sein, kann man als Einführung den Vortrag “Effektiver Altruismus: Wie können wir Herz und Verstand verbinden?” von Jan Dirk Capelle anschauen.

Nach dem Vortrag und dem Q&A wird es die Gelegenheit geben, sich mit anderen über Effektiven Altruismus und vieles mehr zu unterhalten.
