Return to Storm King - SATURDAY

The EA NYC group + guests will be heading for a day trip to http://stormking.org/, the unique massive "sculpture park" an hour north of NYC on the Hudson. It's a sprawling, picturesque setting for discussion and some fresh air! We had a fun outing there back in 2017.

Many of us will take the Coach USA (formerly Short Line) bus from Port Authority ($52 return including admission), which leaves at 10:30 am and gets back at 6:25 pm. You're also welcome to make your own way, eg drive up and meet us there.

Details:
1. All are welcome!
2. You must arrange your own transportation, bus or car or other. Clicking "Going" doesn't get you a ticket! I suggest buying yours on Tuesday, September 6th (when we finalize the date).
3. We also have a half-price discount for students or nonprofit employees. If interested, contact Jacob (email below) before buying.
4. See the Storm King tickets page and the Coach USA bus page for info on prices etc. Admission alone is ~$23, so $52 for bus + admission is a good price, as long as the bus's timing works for you. Some details:
- When you buy this combo, you don't have a ticket yet, for either the bus or Storm King: you bring the email to the (1st floor) Short Line counter at Port Authority, and they give you your bus + art center tickets. Do not show up at the (4th floor) bus gate with just the email!
- There's some confusion about whether you need to bring a physical printout of your confirmation email (really?), as the email claims. The most knowledgeable-sounding lady I talked to at Short Line said showing it on your phone will do, but another Short Line guy claimed you needed the printout... Some real NYC stuff here. Anyway printing is safest I guess.
- According to that same deceptively friendly Short Line manager, the combo is valid for any date 1 year from purchase - good news for those of us who bought before we postponed.
5. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE those of you taking the bus to be at Port Authority by 10 am SHARP, because Port Authority can be confusing and I managed to miss the bus last time. There is no 2nd bus...
6. Meeting places:
- Those taking the bus: 10 am, Port Authority (40th St & 8th Ave), south building, gates 401-409 on the 4th floor. But you must first pick up your physical tickets on the 1st floor (Coach USA booths 11-15), so yeah leave some time.
- Everyone (bus or car): 11:45 am, Storm King Art Center. The grounds are large! By default we'll meet at the cafe (see map below): I'll update this page if elsewhere.
7. Good idea to bring lunch/snacks. There's a Storm King cafe but it's simple fare: https://stormking.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/20220524_Cafe_Menu.pdf.
8. We have no fixed plans once we get there. I'm told seeing everything in a day is not doable. By default we'll wander around, either as one big group or in smaller groups.
