About us
Welcome to the Effortless Weight Loss Meetup group!
This group is led by Zena Ali, author of Effortless Weight Loss: Have your cake and eat it. If you’re a sweet-toothed foodie who’s sick of diets that don't work - and curious about a more realistic and enjoyable way to lose weight – welcome. You’re in the right place.
Traditional diets fail because they ignore the unconscious habits, emotional triggers, and long-held food beliefs that quietly shape how we eat. They go against our natural instincts to share and enjoy food, while expecting us to summon willpower at a moment’s notice.
The aim here is to take willpower out of the weight loss equation. Because what doesn’t rely on willpower is far more likely to last.
You won’t find calorie counting, rigid meal plans or punishing workout routines here. Instead, we'll explore evidence-based mindset tools that work in real life - helping weight loss feel calmer, kinder and far more sustainable.
This is a friendly, welcoming space for real people with real lives. Come as you are. There’s nothing to prove and no perfection required.
If you're ready to challenge the idea that weight loss has to be a complicated, carb-cutting, sugar-sacrificing, party-pooping exercise, join us... and we’ll take it from there.
This group is inspired by the mindset-first principles explored in my book, Effortless Weight Loss.

Why Diets Keep Failing (and What to Do Instead): Mindset Over Meal Plans
·OnlineOnlineWe’ve been taught that weight loss is about eating less, moving more and trying harder.
So we count calories.
Follow plans.
Ban foods we love.
Push through punishing workouts.
And when it doesn’t work, we blame ourselves. We think we lack motivation. Discipline. Willpower.
But diets don’t fail because we lack willpower.
They fail because they go against our natural instincts to share and enjoy food – and because they focus almost entirely on what we eat, while ignoring the habits, emotions and long-held beliefs that quietly drive our choices. In a busy, demanding world, this creates a constant and exhausting battle of self-control.
This workshop introduces a different way.
An evidence-based, mindset-first approach that takes willpower out of the equation and makes space for ease, joy and real life - so you can work with your mind and body, not against them.
You’ll reflect on your own eating patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs around food, and discover how small shifts can create lasting change - without dieting.
No calorie counting.
No rigid rules.
No punishment.Just a kinder, more realistic way to lose weight - and keep it off for good.
If you’re tired of starting over, this is your missing piece.
