The Elastic team and Microsoft are kicking off Kubecon with a joint meetup on Monday, November 6th!
Join us at the Elastic office in downtown Chicago for an evening of presentations, networking, refreshments, and light bites.
We'll start off the evening with Alex Wert (Senior Manager, Software Engineering at Elastic), Emily Stolfo (Senior Manager Software Engineering at Elastic), and Bahubali Shetti (Senior Director, Product Marketing at Elastic) who will present Ubiquitous Observability with OpenTelemetry and how to get there.
Our second talk of the evening is Data journey: How to build secure and private AI search apps with Elasticsearch and Azure OpenAI, presented by Jeff Vestal (Principal Customer Enterprise Architect at Elastic) and David Giard (Partner Solution Architect at Microsoft).
RSVP Instructions:
Please register no later than Friday, November 3rd, 2023. We need to provide a list of the attendees' names and email addresses to building security 24 business hours before the event. Visitors will be emailed a QR code for elevator access.

Talk Abstracts:
Ubiquitous Observability with OpenTelemetry and how to get there - Alex Wert (Senior Manager, Software Engineering at Elastic), Emily Stolfo (Senior Manager Software Engineering at Elastic), and Bahubali Shetti (Senior Director, Product Marketing at Elastic)
Modern applications rely heavily on the usage of libraries and frameworks for all aspects of their functionality.
As Observability has become critical for any production application, there has been a trend towards preferring vendor-neutral and consistent instrumentation tools. OpenTelemetry has emerged as the first choice for providing insight into applications' behavior; however, its auto-instrumentation approach has challenges. Namely, ownership and maintenance is not guaranteed, and domain knowledge is not centralized. So, what if all of the application's libraries had native instrumentation that emitted observability data out-of-the-box? That way, both observability and maintainability needs would be met.
In this talk, we'll explore this possible future by comparing instrumentation approaches with their pros and cons. We will illustrate the trade-offs via examples and present our learnings from using OpenTelemetry to integrate instrumentation into Elasticsearch client libraries.
Data journey: How to build secure and private AI search apps with Elasticsearch and Azure OpenAI with Jeff Vestal (Principal Customer Enterprise Architect at Elastic) and David Giard (Partner Solution Architect at Microsoft)
Join us for a data journey of building AI search applications using Elasticsearch and Azure OpenAI. Learn how to semantically search, use machine learning models with your data, and protect your data with Elastic. Additionally, learn how to create natural language responses with Azure OpenAI. The session includes a data journey story and a presentation on Elastic on Azure and Azure OpenAI.
Or if you'd like to get started, visit our listing on Azure Marketplace.
