Talk 1 by Daniel Schneiter, Made to Measure:
Ranking Evaluation using Elasticsearch
The evaluation of search ranking results is a complicated task, but the new Elasticsearch Ranking Evaluation API tries to make it easier to measure well-known information retrieval metrics. This helps to make better relevance tuning decisions and allows to evaluate and optimize query templates over a wider range of user needs. There will be a short introduction into ranking evaluation followed by a demo of the API.
Talk 2 by Elvis Saravia, Getting Started with Elastic Data Frame Transforms
In this talk, we will introduce Data Frame Transforms which are useful for running broad analyses and extracting complex and interesting insights about your Elasticsearch data. Data frames are a more efficient data structures to explore and understand large amounts of data that contain complex behavioural attributes. Data frames offer an efficient solution to create background processes that combines events stored in one index into an entity-centric summary of those records. For example, if you wanted to summarise the purchases of a single customer you can pivot your data into a new entity-centric index that provides a more analysis-friendly format. I will show you how to leverage data frames for running a powerful machine learning technique know as outlier detection. Overall, data frames offer you a way to ask interesting questions about your data which could be useful for making key business decisions.
Hope to see you all there!
