About us
We’re delighted to have you join the Elastic global community!
This group is for anyone interested in making data usable in real-time and at scale for use cases like security, observability, enterprise search, and many more, using our Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats products (https://www.elastic.co/products/).
Speak at a meetup:
The Community wants to hear from you! Present about your Elastic Stack stories, be it a 5-15 minute lightning talk or a detailed 25-45 minute technical presentation with Q&A. Our Speaker Guide is full of tips on giving a stellar presentation. If you’re interested, visit the elastic/call-for-meetups repo or send us an email at meetups@elastic.co.

All meetups are recorded and uploaded to YouTube within a few days of the event. Subscribe here to stay up to date!
Local community organizers wanted!
We’re always on the lookout for committed local organizers who will help the group thrive. If this sounds interesting to you, the Community Team at Elastic is here to support you! Email us at meetups@elastic.co.
We know that people enjoy giving back to the communities they care about, so we’ve created an Organizer guide to help you get started on your path to leading an Elastic user group.

Stop Making Reliability Decisions in the Dark: A Practical Introduction to SLOs
·OnlineOnlineJoin us on Friday, August 7th, at 9:00 a.m. PDT for a virtual meetup! Enrique Kortright (Principal Architect, Curriculum at Elastic) will present 'Stop Making Reliability Decisions in the Dark: A Practical Introduction to SLOs', followed by a live Q&A.
Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcvKCDS0PXs
Talk Abstract:
Stop Making Reliability Decisions in the Dark: A Practical Introduction to SLOs - Enrique Kortright (Principal Architect, Curriculum at Elastic)Is the service slow, or is it broken? Should the team slow down and invest in reliability, or is there room to keep shipping? These decisions happen every day in engineering teams — and in most teams, they're made on instinct, on whoever argues loudest in the incident call, or on a dashboard that shows green when things are quietly getting worse.
Service Level Objectives — SLOs — are how engineering teams replace instinct with a number everyone agreed on in advance. In this session we'll cover what SLOs actually are and how they differ from SLAs (which most people have heard of but often conflate), how to read an SLO dashboard and understand the reliability story it's telling, and how burn rate turns a static snapshot into a decision-making signal — telling you not just where your service stands, but where it's heading and how fast.
We'll walk through a real example in Elastic's Observability platform, following a checkout service through degradation, breach, and recovery — and showing how the SLO caught a problem that a traditional monitor would have missed entirely.
No prior SLO experience required. If you run services in production and care about reliability, this session is built for you.
