Georgia 2021 Legislative Wrap-Up with Rep. Becky Evans (virtual)

Georgia Representative Becky Evans has graciously agreed to join us for a talk on the Georgia 2021 legislative season. Areas we will cover include:

1. New voting law.

2. Redistricting, how this will work, when the special session is, etc.

3. HB 134 and HB 156, these bills seek to exclude "cybersecurity" information from open records requirements. They passed unanimously and are on the Governor's desk. EFGA appreciates the need for the state's operational security, but is concerned that matters of public interest may be improperly removed from public view. We will need to educate legislators regarding our concerns.

4. Rural broadband - EFGA supports meaningful advancement of rural broadband initiatives. We will get a progress report on these issues.

5. Police surveillance tech reform - We have highlighted this as a potential issue.
