What do we know about the traditional teachings of Native and African Americans? Are we missing the wisdom these teachings can offer us to build a better world?
Empower those who were previously left on the margins… to become protagonists. Among the important lessons garnered over the past two decades is that, by focusing on insights derived from the most advanced and successful activities rather than by focusing on shortcomings and weaknesses, the community can come to understand what constitutes effective action and learn to disseminate the knowledge gained. Another lesson is how to approach the development of human resources in a manner that can efficiently multiply efforts and empower those who were previously left on the margins, or were otherwise unengaged, to become protagonists of a process of community building and social change. ~ Universal House of Justice, 4 February 2018
Indigenous peoples and people of African descent are two communities that have experienced centuries of genocide, racism, and oppression. Perhaps that’s why they each have unique spiritual roles and stations in the Baha’i Faith. What can we learn from them?
Please join us, as our hearts and minds come together in open-ended discussion on how this process of understanding and transformation might begin to unfold. We will explore some guidance provided by the teachings of the Baha’I Faith, the most recent of the world’s independent religions, to see what we can learn. Baha’is are working through-out the world to advance the whole of humankind toward unity. People of all backgrounds, religions, and beliefs are welcome….
