One language. Countless GEMs. Join us for the Kraków edition of the first-ever Global Elixir Meetups event!
Some time ago, a group of Elixir Contributors had an idea: organize Elixir meetups all around the globe at the same time. Software Mansion brought that idea to life.
We gathered a group of Elixir enthusiasts and created Global Elixir Meetups – an event dedicated to reigniting Elixir meetups around the world!
To connect as many Elixir devs as possible, we’ll be streaming most of the meetups on the GEMs website: https://globalelixirmeetups.com/
Agenda:
18:00
Q&A with the creator of Elixir
José Valim, Dashbit
18:20
Make Search Boring with Torus
Dima Mikielewicz, Software Engineer @ Software Mansion
If you’ve ever had the chance to implement search from scratch, you know how cumbersome it can be - until now. Meet Torus - an Elixir library that bridges PostgreSQL search and Ecto queries, abstracting away the nasty parts and letting you add semantic, similarity, pattern-matching, and full-text search with a single line of code added to your existing Ecto queries. At the end, I’ll show a live demo you can try yourself to see how easy it is to add Torus to your app!
18:40
Leveraging Nested LiveViews
Alan Guzek, Software Engineer @ Software Mansion
Nested LiveViews are not commonly used but they are great for heavy message passing encapsulation. In this talk, I'll demonstrate a practical use case of Nested LiveViews on a simple example. We'll also explore the differences between Nested LiveViews, LiveComponents, and Hooks and how to select the perfect tool for the job.
19:00 Pizza, beer and catchups!
Sound exciting?
