After having to cancel last time due to illness, we're thrilled to announce the rescheduled date for our third Elixir Ruhr Meetup.
This time, we welcome Nick Duitz, Lead Elixir Developer at 9elements, who will talk about building high-performance sport app backends with Elixir.
What happens when hundreds of thousands of fans open the same app at kickoff? When a major soccer club launches a new fan app, the backend needs to handle massive traffic spikes, deliver real-time updates, and stay responsive when it matters most. Nick and his team recently built exactly that: the Elixir backend for the newly released app of Schalke 04.
In this talk, Nick will share what makes Elixir and the BEAM a natural fit for these kinds of challenges, and what architectural decisions helped along the way. Expect practical insights into scalability, performance, and lessons learned.

Please note that the talk will take place on-site only and won't be streamed. We can hold it in either German or English, whichever works best for the people attending.
We hope for a great evening with an inspiring talk and good discussions. And, of course, drinks & pizza.
