Join the Friends of Elk Island Society for an engaging presentation about aquatic invasive species. These species pose a significant threat to Alberta’s waterbodies, infrastructure, biodiversity, and economy. The Alberta Aquatic Invasive Species Program integrates prevention, monitoring, response, and control strategies to protect the province’s aquatic ecosystems. This presentation by Nicole Kimmel, Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist, covers the evolution of monitoring efforts and implementation of effective control measures for aquatic invasives in Alberta, all while navigating ongoing and emerging challenges. Doors open at 1:30 PM.
