Brancaster to Burnham Market

Details
This continues the walk along the north Norfolk coast which started with the last event, with an 8-mile walk from Brancaster to Burnham Market. For those with limited time, energy or other resources, it's also possible to do only the first half of the walk, which is about 3½ miles and takes you to the lunch stop at Burnham Deepdale. Wherever you stop, the idea is then to get the Coasthopper bus back to Brancaster: in other words, this is a linear walk.
This route doesn't just follow the Norfolk Coastal Path, it's a bit more winding and varied, especially in the first half when it visits Branodunum Roman Fort then climbs up the hill to Barrow Common, a little visited nature reserve with great views of the coast. From there it's back down the hill to Burnham Deepdale, where the idea is to have lunch in the café. Alternatives for lunch include buying something from the grocery store there, or bringing your own packed lunch.
At the end of the walk at Burnham Market, there is a pub we could visit if we have time before the next bus. The buses back to Brancaster are only every 2 hours at this time of year, so I've chosen the start time thinking that it'll give us plenty of time to catch the 15:54.
Meet at 10:30 at the main crossroads in Brancaster by the church, i.e. the junction of the A149 Coast Road and Broad Lane (the road down to the beach). In my experience it is usually possible to find parking places on the street here.
For those without transport: lifts are available from the Ely area, including Ely railway station. If you would like a lift, please send me a message through this website: click on my photo to see my profile page, then click on the 'Message' link near the top of that page.
