For one extraordinary day, Downtown Martinez transforms into a living fantasy realm.
Welcome to Downtown D&D — a massive, immersive, downtown-wide adventure where hundreds of players take to the streets, visit local businesses, encounter characters, solve challenges, play games, collect rewards, and become part of an unfolding story.
This is NOT a traditional sit-down game of Dungeons & Dragons.
You don’t need a character sheet.
You don’t need dice.
And you don’t need to know how to play D&D.
You simply need to be ready for an adventure.
⚔️ HOW IT WORKS
Adventurers check in and are sent along different paths through Downtown Martinez. Along the way, you’ll visit participating businesses that have been transformed into stops within the realm.
You might be asked to solve a Bestiary riddle inside a bookshop, identify mysterious creatures, complete an alchemist’s challenge, test your luck for a dragon’s treasure, visit a fantasy tavern, or encounter an NPC who needs your help.
Complete your challenges, earn your rewards, and contribute to something much larger happening throughout the day.

This year’s adventure is The Gathering Flame — The Conclave Ignites.
Adventurers from across the realm are being summoned to Martinez for the Conclave. Throughout the day, hundreds of individual quests will become part of one collective adventure—culminating in the gathering of adventurers at the Downtown Plaza.

Your Downtown D&D experience includes your adventure route and challenges, immersive encounters throughout downtown, event materials, and our Perpetual Soup & Bread lunch experience.
A special 21+ Tavern Route is also available for adventurers who prefer their quests with a little more ale and mischief.

Everyone.
Experienced D&D player? Welcome.
Never rolled a d20 in your life? Also welcome.
Come with your adventuring party, bring a friend, bring the family, or come on your own. Downtown D&D was created to get people out from behind their screens and bring them together in the real world through imagination, play, movement, and community.
Downtown D&D is an inclusive event. There is room at this table for every adventurer.
