before you come. It will answer most of your questions, and you'll know what to expect. :-) We do not take donations for any charities when we hug at the VVWM, so you can omit that part for this event. Remember that Memorial Day is a somber event, and let's keep our energy respectful.

We meet next to the path between the Vietnam Women's Memorial and the Restrooms. Park as you can, or take the METRO to Farragut West and walk about 8 blocks South and 3 West to 21st and Constitution. We are hard to miss, what with all the smiling and hugging and such. ;-)

Dress for the weather. If the weather turns bad (not usual in May,) I will post on the site and send a message to members if we cancel. But we rarely cancel. You can also text me if you have trouble finding us. My number is at the top of the page. Please don't use or share my number for any other purpose. Thanks!

You can come late and/or leave early if you need to. We just appreciate you, whatever you can do.

You might get peckish, standing around hugging for hours. Bring a snack, if you like. Some bottled water is a good idea, too. DC food trucks are pricey and not particularly healthy. A camp chair might be a good idea, too. And you know what else? It is not unheard of for the park service restrooms to run out of toilet paper. Stash a handful in your pocket. You won't regret it! Hand sanitizer is never a bad idea, either.

At our last meetup, a group of us went to dinner in DC afterwards. Let's see who shows and what our plans are...perhaps we can do that again. So looking forward to meeting or seeing you again, and Mom, Jeff and I will see you, with open arms! And Vanessa Leigh White Fernandes will be joining us, fresh off her 3 week tour of North America, hugging ERRYBODY and collecting stories for her upcoming documentary on FREE HUGGERS. You don't want to miss her! Her energy is PHENOM!
