What we’re about
Welcome to the Emerson & Thoreau Discussion Group! We will discuss the major works of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau - two major philosophers/essayists of the 1800s. They describe the beauty of nature and were important to the American Transcendentalist movement. Today, their ideas are still important as relating to individualism (the power of the individual), self-reliance (how to overcome obstacles), and freedom in society (when to conform and when to think independently).
Best of all, our meetings are free and the books are free online.
