### Emotional Intelligence Coaching Module (6 Sessions)
Format: 1:1 Coaching (60 minutes per session)
Outcome: Improve the client’s awareness, regulation, empathy, and interpersonal effectiveness through emotional intelligence.
### Session 1: Foundations of Emotional Intelligence
Objective: Introduce EI, assess current baseline, and set coaching goals.
Topics:
- What is Emotional Intelligence? (Goleman's 5 components)
- EI vs IQ vs Personality
- Self-assessment: Where are you now?
- Identify personal or professional situations where EI is needed most
Tools/Exercises:
- EQ-i 2.0 Self-Assessment or simplified EI questionnaire
- Wheel of Emotional Intelligence
- SMART goal-setting for the program
Homework:
Track emotional triggers and responses for 7 days (Reflection Journal)
### Session 2: Self-Awareness
Objective: Increase awareness of emotions, triggers, and internal patterns.
Topics:
- Emotional literacy: Naming your feelings
- Triggers, thoughts, and emotional narratives
- The impact of self-awareness on decision-making
Tools/Exercises:
- Emotional Audit Template
- The “ABC” Model (Activating Event → Belief → Consequence)
- Mood Tracker or App (e.g., Mood Meter)
Homework:
Identify 2–3 patterns in emotional reactions; write a reflection
### Session 3: Self-Regulation & Managing Emotions
Objective: Learn tools to manage and redirect emotional responses productively.
Topics:
- Understanding emotional hijacks
- Techniques for emotional control (reframing, breathing, labeling)
- Building resilience and pause power
Tools/Exercises:
- The 6-Second Pause Technique
- STOP Method (Stop, Take a breath, Observe, Proceed)
- Emotional Agility by Susan David – discussion points
Homework:
Practice reframing or pausing in real situations; journal 1–2 examples
### Session 4: Social Awareness & Empathy
Objective: Develop the ability to understand others’ emotions and perspectives.
Topics:
- Empathy vs sympathy
- Reading non-verbal cues
- Emotional mirroring & active listening
Tools/Exercises:
- Empathy Mapping
- Perspective-taking activity: “Walk in their shoes”
- Role-play or analysis of difficult social situations
Homework:
Practice deep listening with 2 people and reflect on outcomes
### Session 5: Relationship Management & Communication
Objective: Improve emotional influence, conflict resolution, and authentic communication.
Topics:
- Assertive vs aggressive vs passive communication
- Difficult conversations
- Building trust through empathy and emotional honesty
Tools/Exercises:
- Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Framework
- The Ladder of Inference
- Feedback Role-play using SBI (Situation-Behavior-Impact)
Homework:
Prepare for a difficult conversation using NVC or SBI; practice and reflect
### Session 6: Integration, Growth Plan & Sustaining EI
Objective: Reinforce learnings, review progress, and plan for continued development.
Topics:
- Review goals and progress
- Integrate EI into daily life and leadership style
- Strategies for sustaining growth (books, habits, peer support)
Tools/Exercises:
- Strengths/Improvements reflection
- Personal EI Development Plan (3-6 months)
- Self-contract or accountability commitment
Homework:
Complete and commit to your Personal EI Plan; optional follow-up check-in
