Annapolis Rock via Appalachian Trail in South Mountain State Park
Details
Greetings Empty-Nester Ladies! Let's meet at the Annapolis Rock Trailhead for a 5.1 mile (800 ft elevation gain) hike to Annapolis Rock. This is considered a moderate, out-and-back trail with great views along the way. The estimated time of the adventure is 2.5-3 hours. If you are a woman, looking to hike with other women in the same "empty-nesting" season of life, this outing might be for you. Whether a versed outdoor women or hoping to identify as an outdoorsy woman this year, come join us!
We will meet at the Annapolis Rock Trailhead in the Appalachian Trail parking area, directly off Rt-40 near Myersville, MD (near the 11275 block). Be mindful to park in designated area, as police have been known to ticket illegally parked cars. The parking area is small; If full, there is paid parking at the Greenbriar State Park entrance, west on Rt-40. We WILL hike in the cold weather, but refer to this post for any possible weather cancellations before you head out. It is Valentine's Day, but this event promises to have you off the trail well before any special dinner plans :)
Don't forget:
- Small daypack
- ≠≥ 1-liter of water
- Layers for the weather (hat, gloves, rain jacket, etc.)
- Shoes with good traction (hiking boots, trail runners)
- First aid items you may need
- TP (with baggie to carry out TP :) or Kula cloth
