Smart Cities have become a bit of a buzz word in recent years but there is far more happening than street lamps with lighting sensors and traffic lights with proximity detection. Jonathan will explain the bigger picture of smart cities and share his personal insights from the various projects he has worked on covering Urban IoT, Open Data and Predictive Analytics.

Whether you code or don’t, John will use stories to demonstrate ways to think about data that can help you avoid bugs in code, disastrous projects and everything in between. Increasing automation and pressure to deliver faster, better, cheaper means getting good habits locked in can help; whether it’s the structure of your code, or your day to day behaviour. John draws on 20 years experience ranging from microelectronics to international ISP networks to B2B e-Commerce. He runs a small software agency based in Burnley, taking on the weird jobs that no other agency wants to tackle.
