What we'll do

Welcome to JAMstack Porto! Prepare for an exciting lineup of speakers in the areas of static site generation, the modern web ecosystem, headless CMS, and web hosting and performance solutions.

The JAMstack is not about specific technologies. It’s a new way of building websites and apps that delivers better performance, higher security, lower cost of scaling, and a better developer experience. No rendering means greatly reduced attack surface area for malware, ultra fast hosting on CDN, no debugging php or optimising rendertimes, and a super cheap way to scale your hosting.

JAMstack is increasingly looking to power a larger part of tomorrow's internet!

For this inaugural event, we have 3 amazing talks and speakers:

Phil Hawksworth (Netlify) — Why JAMstack? Beyond static sites.
We used to call them static sites, so why can't we just leave that name alone? The JAMstack can actually go a lot further than delivering static sites. You can use it to deliver highly performant, secure, scalable... dynamic web sites. In this talk we'll look at what the JAMstack is, and how we can use emerging tools and conventions to embrace the possibilities of modern web development without exposing ourselves to undue risk.

Luis Miguel Sousa (Marzee Labs) — Besugo - R&D’ing an SSG with a CMS
The ever-growing culmination of research into modern web development done by Marzee Labs, Besugo is an in-house playground where we apply different techniques and explore how they can best be used together. Besugo is our way of smoothening development and enhancing the final user experience at the same time. With the blazing fast SSG Hugo coupled with Netlify CMS at its core, plus a few extras such as pre-rendered React components, it helps us deliver solid, JAM Stack empowered websites.

Sara Vieira (YLD) — Speed dating GraphQL!
Ever wanted to create something with GraphQL but you think it's hard and takes too long? In this talk I will create a simple GraphQL service in prisma and Apollo for you too see how awesome it is!
Warning: Live coding! F™©kups may happen.
