What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is a unique and ancient form of yoga that works with our physical, mental and energetic bodies. Often referred to as the Yoga of Awareness, in kundalini yoga we are looking to raise our kundalini energy and in doing so increase our consciousness, improve our health and enhance our overall experience of life.
Through applying yogic Science the sages and yogis of old created specific Kriyas – or sets of exercises designed to bring about a specific result. There are literally thousands of these Kriyas that address everything from the physical – strengthening the navel centre, to the esoteric – experiencing infinity. Each Kriya is different, but generally speaking they all contain a mix of Asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and Mantra (sacred sound). By combining breath, sound and posture we immerse ourselves in a full body vibration experience which can lead to profound physical, conscious and sub-conscious shifts taking place.
Kundalini yoga also works to strengthen and balance our nervous and endocrine systems while at the same time, opening our hearts and quieting our minds. Making it a very relevant yoga for today’s society where the constant pressure, environmental toxins and over stimulation have left many of us feeling depleted and disconnected.
Kundalini Yoga is really one of those things that needs to be experienced in order to understand how truly amazing it can be. So do yourself a favor and give it a go.
About Me….
I started my journey with Kundalini yoga approx 6 years ago. From my very first class I was hooked, I remember standing with the teacher after that class - in what is now a familiar post kundalini yoga bliss state - just saying wow, wow, wow! The experience for me was so intense, I could literally feel the energy moving through my body, my hands were tingling, my heart was open and I felt a very deep sense of peace. It was like nothing I had experienced before.
I attended every class that I could after that (although we did not have a permanent kundalini yoga teacher in Cairns at that time) and under the guidance of my teacher began to cultivate a personal daily practice. My life has since changed in so many ways – physically, emotionally and spiritually. I have experienced first hand the transformative nature of this practice and it is from these experiences that I feel compelled to share these teachings with others.

My passion is to make these teachings available to everyone and anyone who feels drawn to it. One of the things I love about kundalini yoga is that it is accessible to everyone, it doesn’t matter how fit you are, how old you are, where you are from etc etc literally all that is required to do kundalini yoga is an open mind and a willingness to grow.
When we practice kundalini yoga in a group the experience and benefits are multiplied. In fact our teacher Yogi Bhajan (a Master of Kundalini Yoga) said that when we get together in a group to chant and practice Kundalini Yoga even the angels get jealous. I would love for you to join me in this beautiful studio to experience for yourself this amazing practice.
