Hello there Craftspeople! Happy 2019!
It is time to kick off Software Crafters Sydney Season 3!
It seems today that having segregated roles such as frontend, backend, mobile, devops, QA has become the go-to approach for software development. Extreme Programming suggests creating cross-functional teams and promotes collective ownership. More often than not, though, these teams, despite being composed of diverse people who can fulfill all of the team's roles, tend to work very waterfall-y: one team member calls in sick and all of a sudden delivery is compromised. It seems like a sound advice, but have we implemented it correctly? Let's get together and talk about whether we are in the right track, the pros and cons of this approach, what works and what doesn't, experiences…
Last year we couldn't keep up and ended up not meeting as regularly. So we'll try something slightly different this time: we'll try to decide what the next gathering is going to be about, format and date/cadence in the very beginning. The evening, then, continues on as programmed.
