On the south coast 30 min further south of Nowra is another entry to the beautiful Morton National Park. This part of the park has many great walks one of which is a walk out to Rusden Head lookout, then continuing down to Pigeon house creek where there is a great camping spot in a cave at Oyster Overhang.
The walk has quite diverse landscape with all the spring wild flowers along the plateau on our way out to see spectacular views of Pigeon House mountain and deep gorges. Once we head further along the track we be walking under a shady rainforest canopy deep into the pigeon house creek area.
We can set up at the camp by early afternoon , then go for an adventurous walk up the creek to a waterfall without our packs .
The walk is 16 k return with a few challenging vertical climbs .
This walk does include climbing down and up a 3 metre rope at one section . Not abseiling but must be able to hold on and rely on the rope to help you down this section.
We will meet at Pointer Gap Lookout and then drive 5 min to the start of the hike .
At princes hwy the sign is posted as porter creek rd. pointer gap rd is the same rd . There is also pointer rd 10 min further south. This is not the correct rd.
