OWASP ASVS V.4 for Startup Founders and Developers

For our first Sydney OWASP meetup in a while, we will have a short lecture and have an opportunity to meet and get to know the local community.

The lecture will be about the OWASP Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS) project, Which provides a basis for testing web application technical security controls — thus providing developers with a list of requirements for secure development.

The primary purpose of the OWASP ASVS project is to standardise security verification practically. Aside from providing a basis for testing application technical security controls, technical security controls in the environment are verified as well. The latter are often relied upon to protect against vulnerabilities such as Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and SQL injection.

In our eyes (VATA) establishes a higher level of confidence in the security of web applications than OWASP Top 10 tests.
