Guest speaker: Katrina Fox

Katrina Fox is an award-winning journalist, media trainer, publicity consultant, editor of the vegan business blog VeganBusinessMedia.com and host of Vegan Business Talk podcast. She is the author of Vegan Ventures: Start and Grow an Ethical Business, the first global book providing success strategies for aspiring and existing vegan business owners and has written extensively for niche and mainstream media for 17 years on a diverse range of topics, including animal advocacy and ethical business issues.

A passionate animal advocate, Katrina won the Voiceless: The Animal Protection Institute Media Prize for her article, ‘Speciesism: The Final Frontier’, for the ABC’s The Drum website. Her work has been featured in several books, including Circles of Compassion and Plant-Powered Women, and she's currently a columnist for Australian Vegans, Barefoot Vegan (UK) and La Fashionista Compassionista (US) magazines.

They'll share their challenges and how they overcame them in a Q&A with Katrina Fox.

Our entrepreneurs in the spotlight for this event are Kate Jones and Annabelle McMillan from Maker Sydney (http://www.makersydney.com/), the new collaborative space in Petersham that's home to several vegan businesses.

Kate is the owner of The Vegan Teahouse (http://www.theveganteahouse.com/), maker of delicious treats and loose-leaf teas. The business started out in 2012 at a market in Newtown and now has its home at Maker.

Annabelle runs My Little Panda Kitchen (http://www.mylittlepandakitchen.com/), creating spectacular bespoke vegan cakes.

The pair are all about collaboration and helping other vegan entrepreneurs to succeed, which is why they opened Maker Sydney, offering other food businesses a shared kitchen to create their wares, as well as a place to sell them from. Maker Sydney is a one-stop-shop for vegan sweet and savoury delights and even cosmetics.
