What we’re about
A group based within all variants of Humanism, in the spirit of a positive humanity, that promotes both physical and mental wellness through meaningful relationships, free-thinking, exercise, a supportive group and being kind to one another. We like to do meetups of just chatting, lunch meetups, taking walks or seeing movies sometimes. We also like to do the occasional charity event to slightly better life for individuals.
Importantly, the intellectual traditions of humanisms has to be taught. As moderate postmodernist theories have shown, it is not, unfortunately, a matter of natural dispositions. (note, "moderate")
We are invited to participate in such an understanding of Humanism. (Capital 'H'?)
By the way, Humanists Brisbane is a community of Humanists Australia:

What is Being Real? The ideas of the ideal and the real.
Tala means story: personal, authentic, real stories that have meaning and can be shared. myTala is my story, told my way, by me over six workshops facilitated by Dr Neville Buch.
Looking for a powerful way to connect generations and preserve memories? Think about creating what's known as a personal history. It could be a memoir, a family biography, an oral history, a legacy letter, or another tribute, and it could take the form of a printed work, a video, an audio recording, or other formats. Whatever form of remembrance you choose, a personal history can have a profound impact on your life and the lives of your loved ones.

What to bring:
- A writing Instrument
- Please bring a personal object to the workshops. It could be an object of clothing that has meaning to you, a book or a reading, it could be an object from your favourite season or time period or a piece of music. Choose one personal object, bring it with you, and Neville will help you tell your personal history using that object. Each workshop will follow the following format:
- Review the task and question of the previous workshop
- Dr Neville will present the concepts of the current workshop
- We will reflect and discuss those concepts
- Apply those concepts using our personal objects
- Neville will then share from “The Personal History of Ruth” as an example
- Concluding with the workshop task and question to be reviewed at the next workshop
In six workshops we will apply the following to researching and writing our own personal history:
- The difference between Personal History and Family History
- The idea of self
- The idea of freedom
- The Ideas of subject and object
- The ideas of the ideal and the real
- The ideas of the legacy and heritage
See how your personal history evolves as you apply the concepts using your personal object.
