What we’re about
A group based within all variants of Humanism, in the spirit of a positive humanity, that promotes both physical and mental wellness through meaningful relationships, free-thinking, exercise, a supportive group and being kind to one another. We like to do meetups of just chatting, lunch meetups, taking walks or seeing movies sometimes. We also like to do the occasional charity event to slightly better life for individuals.
Importantly, the intellectual traditions of humanisms has to be taught. As moderate postmodernist theories have shown, it is not, unfortunately, a matter of natural dispositions. (note, "moderate")
We are invited to participate in such an understanding of Humanism. (Capital 'H'?)
By the way, Humanists Brisbane is a community of Humanists Australia:

Book Club: In the Desert: Jimmy Pike as a Boy, by Pat Lowe
It’s okay to attend if you haven’t finished the book, but spoilers will not be avoided. We hope you will try to get through at least some of the book, though, as it makes for a better discussion.
Jimmy Pike is one of Australia's most famous Aboriginal artists, represented in collections in all major Australian public galleries and museums. He grew up in the Great Sandy Desert during the 1940s and 1950s.
This is his story as told by his lifetime partner, English-born Pat Lowe, who spent three years in the desert with him, and many more years listening to his stories. This remarkable and intimate account of what was a traditional Walmajarri boyhood, one of the last of its kind, opens your eyes to a completely different culture and way of experiencing the world. The startling fact is that after 60,000 years following a nomadic, hunter-gatherer way of life, the exodus of the Walmajarri people from the desert occurred in only one or two generations after white settlement.
