What we're about
CLIMB melbourne is a social community for rock climbing. Our community has a diverse mix of individuals from around the world who each want to share the experience of adventure.
CLIMB melbourne would like to extend thanks to our current sponsors ROC (RMIT outdoor club) and Bogong. You will find ROC events hosted here as well :) Bogong offers 10% discount to members for in store purchases. Just show that you're a member of CLIMB melbourne on the meetup app on your phone. Visit www.bogong.com.au to see what they have available.
Upcoming events (4+)
Hello Climbers!
With most COVID-19 restrictions lifted bookings with the venue are no longer required unless you are a first time visitor to Hard Rock and needing to do a safety induction, then you need to book.
The current info on the Hard Rock site can be found here:
https://www.hardrock.com.au/news-events/reopening-updates/
Just meet at the yellow sign and introduce yourself :) We still encourage organising a climbing partner in advance if the event you are planning to go to only has one or 2 people on the ‘attending’ list so you can make sure you have at least one other person there to climb with! Feel free to reach out on the event wall or message a host :)
If we have an odd number of people, we can make a rotating group of 3.
There is also a self-belay area if you want to get in more climbing if in a group of 3 or arriving earlier. Meet up will start at 6pm but if you want to start earlier you certainly can, but again you will need to organise a climbing partner in advance.
New climbers are welcome, however your mandatory induction takes about 15/20mins. Harnesses, shoes and chalk bag can be hired also.
Book in here for your induction:
https://www.hardrock.com.au/online-booking/
Needless to say, if you are unwell, please don't attend!

Last chance to get a Mt Macedon trip in before the perma-mist sets in again until summer!
As per tradition we will meet at the Mt Macedon Trading Post for a quick coffee then head up to the crag. There will be top ropes set up for the beginners and hopefully a few people sport climbing as well. I will organise a carpool to get everyone there efficiently.
You will need to bring:
- Climbing helmet
- Climbing harness
- Climbing shoes
- Lunch, snacks and drinking water
- Warm clothes (don't be deceived by the forecast, it gets cold up there
- Sun protection
This trip will be dependent on enough anchor setters joining to help out.
See you all there!

From here it’s a 40 min walk to the area where we will be spending the day. Climbing will go until around 4-5pm. Depending on interest, we may stop at the pub for dinner on the way home.
Equipment needed:
- Climbing Helmet (bike or other helmets not acceptable)

- Climbing Gear
You can hire the above equipment from the ROC gear room, open on Tuesdays + Thursdays 6:30pm - 7:30pm. For inquiries email [masked] .
You’ll also need:
- Backpack
- Adequate food and water for the day
- Weather-appropriate clothes, including sturdy walking shoes
- Sun/rain protection
Costs:
$10 for gear hire if needed
Aprox $10-$20 for petrol
Carpooling will be arranged closer to the date, participants will be emailed with details.
Putting yourself down as driver doesn’t mean you will be one. If you do not wish to be part of the carpool, please put this in the comments section.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions/concerns.
See you all there!
