Top Rope Anchors Course: Winter Edition (ROC)

Top Rope Anchors Course: Winter Edition (ROC)

Details

To join this trip, visit http://roc.org.au/trips/trip-info/?trip_id=5741 and click 'Join trip' at the bottom of that page.

This course will teach you skills needed to set up top ropes for climbing outdoors using natural protection. You'll learn knots, how to place gear, equalization and other stuff you need to know to set up top rope anchors. After finishing this course and having a few practice trips you can be checked off and be ready to hire gear and go climbing outdoors on your own.
This course is also the first very important step to becoming a climbing leader in the club, a step towards being a self-sufficient climber and to helping out on club trips taking other people climbing with you. To be accepted on this course you need to have some outdoors top rope or lead seconding climbing experience, and be active with the club.
Normal cost for the course is about $150 per person. It's much cheaper than any commercial price since we want people to develop and take part in the club's life as a helper or a leader. Once you're checked off as a top rope leader, the club will expect you to commit to assist on and/or run a few climbing trips in the year following your course. In order to be eligible for the cheaper rate you have to have been on 2 or more club trips before attending the course.
You can choose to pay commercial rate of $250 if you want to do it for yourself and have no commitment to the club after you finish. You'll still be encouraged to take part in club trips anyway, it's more fun together! However, spots will be prioritised for those who wish to... (see website for more details - http://roc.org.au/trips/trip-info/?trip_id=5741)

See you all there!
