Hi everyone, this is an expression of interest for the SPG (single pitch guide) course with the ACIA (Australian Climbing Instructors Association). This course is the first step in gaining externally recognised qualifications and learning skills to keep yourself and your climbing partners safe. The course runs over four days at Arapiles.
The cost of the course is $845. The club offers subsidies of 80% of the course cost in exchange for a commitment to help teach internal training courses. Once I have an idea of numbers we can work out some dates and organise a course with the ACIA. Feel free to reach out with any questions via email.
More info here (https://acia.com.au/course/single-pitch-guide-training-course-4-days/)
From the ACIA:
This course is for those who would like to work in the industry, or for recreational climbers who would like to learn about instructing techniques. The course fee includes Associate Membership of the ACIA for the current calendar year.
Entry requirements :
Candidates may enter at this level bypassing the Top Rope Guide level if they feel they have sufficient lead climbing experience. It is expected that candidates be competent lead climbers on traditional gear up to a minimum of grade 10, and have their own personal climbing equipment to participate in the training program. Previous instructional experience is not necessary. However, candidates for assessment will be req... (see website for more details - http://roc.org.au/trips/trip-info/?trip_id=5764)

See you all there!
