Unspoken Enemies of Agility: Reciprocal Interdependencies

Unspoken Enemies of Agility: Reciprocal Interdependencies - explore the most impactful type of interdependencies and how they should be addressed according to worldwide practice and the serious scientific studies in the foundation of the course Designing Agile Organisations (DAO).

What is DAO?
In +99% of Agile adoptions, companies make the same mistake of trying to apply a local change (e.g. Agile framework) while leaving untouched the surrounding organisation. As a result, different levels of organisation and different aspects (e.g. HR processes, reporting lines, and line management approaches) conflict between them since they are designed to drive in different directions.

The certified course Designing Agile Organisations (DAO for short) is not another framework. You rather can look at it as an approach to creating your own framework, yet covering the entire organisational system from all its perspectives and all levels. This approach is based on Systems Thinking and holistic organisational design. No magic anymore but sole logic.

Based on scientific axioms of organisational design as well as purely practical guidelines supported by multiple real-life examples, DAO opens the way to create truly Agile organisations.

How is the topic connected to DAO?
One such axiom is related to Reciprocal Interdependencies - the most impactful type causing a tremendous loss in speed, picking coordination overhead, and ultimately - lost business opportunities. Most importantly, such interdependencies usually cross the boundaries of teams, groups, departments, or even companies. They are one of the main enemies of Agility unless you know how to address them.
