đŸ—ș **\*\*\*** **Rejoignez notre [groupe Whatsapp Paris](https://chat.whatsapp.com/KkFwIL85vly3UefjyheHXh) 👈** **Suivez-nous sur [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/practicalphilosophyclub/) 👈** **Visitez notre [site web](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/) 👈** **✹ IF YOU ARE AN ENGLISH SPEAKER YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. Cosy Cave Conversations // 10Úme // Café philo in English
**Step into the laid-back charm of Cosy Cave Conversations**, a Parisian philosophy chat that's more relaxed than a cat in a sunbeam 🐈 🌞 Gather with a bunch of easygoing souls, share thoughts on the good life and its mysteries, enjoy a beverage, and have a good laugh. A few things to be aware of: * **Please** **don't show up without a spot** (we aim to keep it cosy and we always have a waiting list these days — check if you’re on the list or the waiting list) * If it's your first event, it's essential you **turn up early, or at the latest on time (<7pm)** so you understand how it works, what the topic is and don't interrupt the session * The **session runs from 7pm to 8:30pm** where we focus on the discussion, but don't worry, you'll have a chance to socialise, introduce yourselves and continue the chat after the session. **If you’re running late** (the curtains are closed), that’s okay, but please wait to join us in the break rather than interrupting the session. * Please read the **tips below** for a good session before coming along **How does it work?** We embrace the cafĂ©-philo method — proposing intriguing topics on the night (up to 3), choosing one together, and diving into everything from consciousness, community, death and god, while managing to keep it light and easy 🩩 **Forget the stiff atmosphere**, we're all about small groups (\~10 people) and unpretentious chats with no homework required. No need for a philosophy degree, just bring your open mind and a dash of curiosity. **Join us every Wednesday 19h-20h30 at Les Acolytes** — because pondering the profound is better with good company (and a pint). See you there! 🎉 A few tips for a great session: * come with an **open and curious mind** 🧠 * **prioritise listening to others and asking questions** without interrupting or long monologues 👂 * we put a strong **emphasise on giving everyone a chance to contribute to the discussion**, so try and be aware of how much space and time you take up when speaking đŸ»â€â„ïž * we prioritise **intellectual accessibility**: this is not an academic group therefore we ask to keep any philosophy jargon to a minimum and instead explain any concepts in plain english đŸ€  * we are an **apolitical group** that focuses on discussing and exploring philosophical ideas without endorsing or aligning with any specific political or religous ideologies. Our aim is to encourage open, unbiased dialogue centered on philosophical inquiry within a safe and respectful environment đŸ„

Anitalk Station
Anitalk Station
đŸ„đŸœ Welcome to Anitalk Station!🏯đŸ‘ș Welcome anime and manga lovers far and wide! This group is for anyone who wants to build real connections and friendships through a shared passion for Japanese pop culture. Whether you are a local, an expat, or someone newly moved to the area, this group is all about creating a relaxed, low-pressure space to geek out together under the sun. While our primary focus is Japanese, Anitalk Station is a truly multilingual hub. We express our love for anime and manga using English, French, and whatever our members' native languages may be! 🎯 Our Goal Textbooks are great, but the best way to learn and connect is through what we love. Our goal is to break down language barriers and make socializing easier by using anime and manga as our "universal language." We want to create a welcoming "station" where people from different cultural backgrounds can cross paths, share their favorite series, and find lifelong otaku friends. đŸ‘„ Who should join? All skill levels—both in anime knowledge and language proficiency—are welcome! This group is for you if: You are a passionate fan of anime, manga, or games and want a space to talk about your favorite characters or latest watches. You want to practice speaking Japanese, English, or French in a casual, real-world setting. You are looking to expand your social circle and meet open-minded, international friends outside your usual routine. 🌳 What we do at our events (How it works) We host casual, in-person gatherings in beautiful local parks and green spaces, bringing together a vibrant group of up to 20 people. To make sure socializing is easy and everyone gets a chance to have meaningful conversations (without getting lost in a huge crowd), we split into smaller, cozy picnic circles of 4–6 people spread across the grass. We also mix the groups halfway through so you can meet even more friends! 🎁 SPECIAL GIFT (First-come, first-served!) 🎁 We will be giving away FREE anime stickers (ONE PIECE, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more) to early arrivals! Come grab yours before they run out! ✹ 📅 Next Event Details (English) Bring your friends or come alone, all nationalities are welcome! Let's meet up at 7:30 pm on Sunday, May 31st for an apĂ©ro/picnic on the riverside just across Ăźle Saint-Louis (Quai de la Tournelle). Bring your drinks and something to eat and let's talk about your favorite anime and manga together! The weather is supposed to be amazing...or at least we hope it will be : ) 📾 Instagram: We now have an Instagram account! Follow us at @animejapanese_hiro and feel free to ask any questions!! 📍 Directions & How to find us: We'll be down by the river around 53 quai de la tournelle! Look at the arrows on our map (click the link). We will have a great view of Notre Dame. We will be holding an American Flag to help you spot us, so just keep walking towards Notre-Dame until you find us. Don't hesitate to come towards us and say hi! 🚇 MĂ©tro: Pont Marie (line 7) or Saint-Michel (line 4) đŸ‡«đŸ‡· Bienvenue Ă  Anitalk Station ! ### **A floral gathering for women who want to slow down and reconnect with themselves.** ***Blossom*** is a gentle pause, not a traditional workshop ; a moment to breathe, create, and enjoy meaningful conversations in a cozy cafĂ© setting. Surrounded by flowers and a welcoming atmosphere, you’ll create your own bouquet using blooms you personally bring, making every arrangement unique. This gathering is for women who crave beauty in the little things and rarely take time to pour back into themselves. You’ll leave with a bouquet made by your own hands and the feeling of having given yourself a soft, intentional break. Full Moon Picnic Sat May 30, 8:30-10:30 PM, Pont des Arts
Full Moon Picnic Sat May 30, 8:30-10:30 PM, Pont des Arts
**Ahoy there,** Next full moon picnic will be Saturday May 30 from 8:30 - 10:30 P.M. Moonrise will be around 10:10 P.M. Sunset around 9:40 PM. I may not make it back from my tree house in time but never fear, Catherine and Charles will be there to welcome you. The Pont des Arts is undergoing renovations for the botched renovation 3 years ago that used a poor design to fasten the wood planks. Most of the bridge will remain open full width during the work. We will meet by one of the benches in the open section, which is currently towards the Left Bank side of the bridge. Hard to predict how work will advance over the next week. So finding us may involve a little bit of treasure hunt adventure. You’re welcome! In the unlikely event we will assemble below on the quai on the Right Bank side. May is known by American Indians for the Full Flower Moon because of the wide appearance of flowers during this month. It's also known as Full Corn Planting Moon (for obvious reasons) and as the Milk Moon. Bob, I swear you're just copy pasting that from your last email for our previous Full Moon Picnic. Yes, that’s because this is the second full moon of the same month, which only happens once in a blue moon. đŸ€Ł **WHAT**: Everyone brings food and drink to share. **WHERE**: Pont des Arts. We'll gather around the 2nd or 3rd bench from the Right Bank side of the bridge. Nearest metros: Pont Neuf and Louvre-Rivoli. **WHEN**: Saturday May 30 from 8:30-10:30 P.M. **WHY**: Share one of the most memorable sights in Paris with some of the nicest people around. **WHO**: You and your friends. **THEME**: Blue **BIRTHDAYS**: Are you’re a Gemini? Bring a cake and let me know so we can celebrate your birthday this month and blow out the world’s largest birthday candle. **HOW** to find us: Keep your eyes out for a bunch of lunatics eating, drinking an chatting in English and French. **PUZZLER**: Raise your hand if you’re vegetarian. Vegan? Beegan?(vegan + honey. I know.) Flexitarian?(occasional meat). Vegan before 6 PM?(yes that’s actually a thing.) Forget about Omnivore. Forget about Carnivore. How about Cannibal? How about Sausage eating Cannibal? Why are you cringing? You're the product of a Sausage eating Cannibal. Don’t try to puzzle this out. Just go ahead and scroll to the answer before your stomach turns queasy. **PUZZLER ANSWER**: Our galaxy, the Milky Way has become quite large feasting on other smaller galaxies. About 8 billion years ago, a study said, that a smaller dwarf galaxy was gobbled up by a young and hungry Milky Way. The study was not 8 billion years ago (that’s why the 2 commas) but 8 years ago. The dwarf galaxy was named Gaia Sausage because it was sorta kinda in the shape of a sausage according to the astronomers analyzing the data. They had been up for 2 days without eating and were definitely not vegan. [https://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2018/july/gaia-sausage.html](https://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2018/july/gaia-sausage.html) Turns out that just this month, the Milky Way gobbled up another galaxy, according to a study, 10 billion years ago. (I’m using commas the way Trump uses legal loopholes.) The poor meal this time is called the Loki galaxy, named after the Norse god of mischief. The remnants of this dwarf galaxy are hard to detect and tricky to explain because the left over stars are moving in opposite directions. Confusing and mischievous. [https://edition.cnn.com/2026/05/23/science/milky-way-loki-galaxy](https://edition.cnn.com/2026/05/23/science/milky-way-loki-galaxy) In this eat or be eaten universe galaxies are cannibalizing each other. So far the Milky Way has eaten its way to an expanding belt-line. Ciao for niao, **Captain Bob**

Franklin Park Conservatory / Columbus Brewing Company
Franklin Park Conservatory / Columbus Brewing Company
**History** The [Franklin Park Conservatory](https://www.fpconservatory.org/)’s roots trace back to 1852 when the Franklin County Agricultural Society purchased 88 acres of land to host the Ohio State Fair. After the fair moved to its permanent home, the city of Columbus transformed the grounds into Franklin Park in 1884. This transition shifted the space from a temporary event site to a dedicated public green space for the growing community. The park became a central hub for outdoor recreation and early civic gatherings in the neighborhood. In 1895, the landmark Victorian-style Palm House opened its doors, drawing heavy inspiration from the Glass Palace of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This iron and glass structure became an immediate icon, housing exotic plants that residents would otherwise never see in the Midwest. It remains the oldest part of the facility and serves as a primary link to the conservatory’s 19th-century origins. For decades, it stood as a singular testament to grand horticultural architecture in Central Ohio. A major turning point arrived in 1992 when Columbus hosted AmeriFlora '92, an international horticultural exhibition. This massive event prompted a $16 million renovation and expansion, adding significantly more greenhouse space and the Dorothy M. Davis Showhouse. The festival put the conservatory on the international map and fundamentally changed its scale and ambition. Following the event, the facility transitioned from a city-run park to a private, non-profit organization. In 2003, the conservatory’s identity was further defined through a long-term partnership with world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. After a successful exhibition, the Friends of the Conservatory purchased most of the glass installations, creating the largest permanent collection of Chihuly’s work in a botanical setting. These vibrant glass sculptures are now woven throughout the biomes, blending art with nature. This addition helped cement the conservatory as a premier cultural destination rather than just a botanical garden. Recent years have seen the site expand beyond the glass walls to emphasize community engagement and outdoor education. The 2018 opening of the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden added two acres of interactive landscape designed for hands-on learning. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Community Garden Campus also provides local residents with space to grow their own food and learn sustainable practices. Today, the conservatory balances its historic Victorian charm with modern commitments to local ecology and the Columbus community. **Maps of the Conservatory** Here is the [main map](https://www.fpconservatory.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/franklin-park-zones-scaled.jpg) of the Conservatory grounds. Here's a [map of the areas](https://www.fpconservatory.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/ConstructionMap-2026.jpg) in which the Conservatory has ongoing construction (see below). **Summary** For this event, we'll explore Columbus's highly-rated and very popular Conservatory. As mentioned above, the Conservatory is doing renovations on parts of the facility. These renovations are scheduled to be ongoing until the Fall of next year. Basically, no matter when you go to the Conservatory over the next 18 months, you're going to see some metaphorical orange barrels. So let's just go now. **Tickets and pricing** On the first Sunday of every month, the Conservatory is free for residents of Franklin County and the city of Columbus. You must bring an ID to receive this discount. (Yes, they do check.) Otherwise, tickets are $25.20. Members of the Columbus Zoo (of which I am one) do get a discount on tickets, though I have never actually bought a ticket to the Conservatory (I've always gone on free days). I believe the discount is $4. Parking is always free. If you have additional questions about pricing or whether and for what you qualify, you can reach the Conservatory at 614-715-8000. **Where we'll meet** We will meet just outside the main entrance. I guarantee there's going to be a line. The Conservatory is always popular on free days, and especially in nice weather. **Your GPS is stupid!** Be careful simply typing "Franklin Park Conservatory" in your GPS and going where it tells you. The only way to access the parking lot to the Conservatory is off of Broad Street. Unfortunately, since Google Maps is unable to find its way out of a wet paper bag, it has a tendency to want to take people to a mythical, non-existent Conservatory entrance on Nelson Road. If your GPS does this, just drive to the north side of the Conservatory along Broad Street. Your GPS should then redirect you to the main Conservatory entrance. If your GPS doesn't, then throw your phone away\* and look for the big Conservatory sign on the south side of Broad Street between Nelson Road and Franklin Park West. You also should be able to use the map pin I've provided, below, and it should properly direct you to where you need to drive. \* Don't really do this. **After the event** After stopping to smell the roses, for those that are interested, we'll head to the nearby [Columbus Brewing Company Beer Hall](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/) for [drinks](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/#draft-list) and [lunch](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/#food-menu). The Beer Hall's actual address is [200 Kelton Ave, Columbus, OH 43205](https://www.google.com/maps/place/200+Kelton+Ave,+Columbus,+OH+43205/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x883889a94ac4acad:0xadb2e60240dbc38b?sa=X&ved=1t:242&ictx=111) (it's literally just on the south side of the Conservatory). Be sure this is where your GPS is taking you when you use it, as the Brewing Company has a taproom on Harrison Avenue that is *not* what you want for this event. We should be at the Beer Hall by 1 if you can't make the Conservatory and just want to join us for drinks.
