Cosy Cave Conversations // 10Úme // Café philo in English
**Step into the laid-back charm of Cosy Cave Conversations**, a Parisian philosophy chat that's more relaxed than a cat in a sunbeam đ đ Gather with a bunch of easygoing souls, share thoughts on the good life and its mysteries, enjoy a beverage, and have a good laugh.
A few things to be aware of:
* **Please** **don't show up without a spot** (we aim to keep it cosy and we always have a waiting list these days â check if youâre on the list or the waiting list)
* If it's your first event, it's essential you **turn up early, or at the latest on time (<7pm)** so you understand how it works, what the topic is and don't interrupt the session
* The **session runs from 7pm to 8:30pm** where we focus on the discussion, but don't worry, you'll have a chance to socialise, introduce yourselves and continue the chat after the session.
**If youâre running late** (the curtains are closed), thatâs okay, but please wait to join us in the break rather than interrupting the session.
* Please read the **tips below** for a good session before coming along
**How does it work?** We embrace the cafĂ©-philo method â proposing intriguing topics on the night (up to 3), choosing one together, and diving into everything from consciousness, community, death and god, while managing to keep it light and easy đŠŠ
**Forget the stiff atmosphere**, we're all about small groups (\~10 people) and unpretentious chats with no homework required. No need for a philosophy degree, just bring your open mind and a dash of curiosity.
**Join us every Wednesday 19h-20h30 at Les Acolytes** â because pondering the profound is better with good company (and a pint). See you there! đ
A few tips for a great session:
* come with an **open and curious mind** đ§
* **prioritise listening to others and asking questions** without interrupting or long monologues đ
* we put a strong **emphasise on giving everyone a chance to contribute to the discussion**, so try and be aware of how much space and time you take up when speaking đ»ââïž
* we prioritise **intellectual accessibility**: this is not an academic group therefore we ask to keep any philosophy jargon to a minimum and instead explain any concepts in plain english đ€
* we are an **apolitical group** that focuses on discussing and exploring philosophical ideas without endorsing or aligning with any specific political or religous ideologies. Our aim is to encourage open, unbiased dialogue centered on philosophical inquiry within a safe and respectful environment đ„

19:00 : DĂ©but des ateliers (on va oĂč l'on veut)
21:30 : Derniers ateliers (on va oĂč l'on meuh)

**đ CE QUE LES GENS EN PENSENT**
* **Je peux venir seul(e) ?**
Oui, on encourage mĂȘme ça ! :)

Blossom - ElumĂ©a Womenâs Hangout
### **A floral gathering for women who want to slow down and reconnect with themselves.**
***Blossom*** is a gentle pause, not a traditional workshop ; a moment to breathe, create, and enjoy meaningful conversations in a cozy café setting.
Surrounded by flowers and a welcoming atmosphere, youâll create your own bouquet using blooms you personally bring, making every arrangement unique.
There is no âright wayâ to create here ; some bouquets will be minimal, others wild and expressive, each reflecting the woman who makes it.
This gathering is for women who crave beauty in the little things and rarely take time to pour back into themselves.
Youâll leave with a bouquet made by your own hands and the feeling of having given yourself a soft, intentional break.
Come as you are; let the flowers and the conversations do the rest!
**âš What to expect:**
* A gentle, creative flower moment for women

Deep Talk / Snacks PicNic In English âïž
đ©đ° Let's have a weekly deep talk in an intimate Parisian cafĂ©, share a drink and have a good time with like-minded, lovely and chill people. đ„â
We're here to sip life in a childish, simple and non-serious way. đ
When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation? Or deepened your relationship with someone in your life? It's not easy to have a deep conversation.
While small talk, which is typically casual and light-hearted, can help break the ice, it may not necessarily help you form a deep, emotional connection with someone. Whether it's with your friends, family, colleagues or romantic partners, having meaningful conversations is important for creating strong bonds.
"Meaningful conversations help us understand ourselves and those around us better. They involve sharing important aspects of ourselves and actively listening, validating and connecting with others."
We believe that a happy and healthy life is built on beautiful relationships and that loneliness kills us. That's it. It's not the number of friends that counts, it's the quality of the relationship.
â
This group is adressed to :
â People who want to build deep, genuine and caring relationships in a small group that looks the same, where they feel comfortable and emotionally safe to talk emotionally and get intimate about anything in their lives.
â Simple, loving, kind, hyper/sensitive and lovely people who spend a lot of time in their bubble thinking about the meaning of life, passionate about personal development, philosophy, meaningful conversations, debates ....
â Please don't subscribe if :
â You don't see yourself in the group's aims and beliefs.
â You're travelling for a short period of time and don't live or intend to live in Paris.
â You are not sure if you will be able to come, please update your status to allow others on the waiting list to join. An absence without notice will result in an irrevocable ban.
Progress :
â â For reservations, I'll send you a private Meetup message at least 5 hours before the meeting to confirm your reservation. If I don't receive a reply 2 hours before the meeting, I will send you a second message to let you know that you will be replaced by someone on the waitlist.
â đ We keep the session small, cosy and relaxed in a quiet place, prioritising regularity to encourage intimacy, connection, listening and speaking. (\~ 5/6 people)
â đ On arrival, if you feel comfortable, you will be suggested to choose and associate several drawn Feelings and Needs cards to express how you really feel at the moment, to talk about ourselves and communicate effectively.
â đ The best way to make progress is to make the conversation easy and natural, with everyone making an effort to suggest and write down what you want to talk about. You can write down your favourite topics/questions before the meeting. The meeting is participative and invite everyone if you feel comfortable being a leader and a power of suggestion.
Anyway, to keep the meeting running smoothly, I'll animate the meeting to make sure the conversation doesn't get wild or boring and I wouldn't hesitate to reframe people. In case of lack of inspiration we have a lot of deep conversation question card game which can help to find interesting questions.
â đ (Not compulsory) After the meeting we can finish in a nearby restaurant for those who wish to relax or continue our conversation.
Advice for a good moment :
â Leave your ego and mask at home, we are not here to impress anyone but to be ourselves with our strength, weakness, pride and shame.
Come with an open/deep/emotional/complex thought and vulnerability.
â Ask open-ended questions and invite the other person to describe what a situation was like for them or how they felt.
â Don't hesitate to be vulnerable and share information about yourself if needed.
Consider sharing personal information first to gain the other person's trust.
â Adopt an attitude of curiosity and genuine interest in what the other person is saying. Be thoughtful and try to put yourself in the other person's shoes so that you can see things from their perspective. Be truthful, caring and honest.
â Listen actively and ask follow-up questions.
â Be empathetic and offer emotional validation so that they feel seen and heard.
It is forbidden to judge, but try to understand.
â â± Be aware of your speaking time for Equally Speak.
â đ€« Be aware never to provoke political or religious ideologies, but to accept differences of belief. Advice on non-violent communication can be given in the meeting to learn not to unintentionally hurt anyone when requested or needed.
â đš Remember to maintain a safe, and benevolent environment. People who are considered to be disruptive, problematic or simply not in tune with the energy of the group will not be allowed to return.
Finally, we're hug-friendly !!!

**Let the return of the gentle weather be an opportunity to reconnect to the wonderment that the forest offers.**
During a forest bathing outing, we alternate between silent introspective moments, and joyful shared practices, so as to find relaxation and cheer.
For more information about my forest bathing approach, the information can be found on my website: [https://laurabrav.fr/bains-de-foret](https://laurabrav.fr/bains-de-foret)
The starting point of this outing is Bois-le-Roi station at 11am (or Gare de Lyon at 9.50am to catch the 10.05am R train), returning to Paris by the 6pm train (arrives at Gare de Lyon at 6.45)
***Times may vary depending on the weather***
**Tarif** : by "conscious donation" *(the amount which is a balance for me would be an average of 35⏠per participant, but the most important thing is that everyone who is interested is able to come!)*

Full Moon Picnic Sat May 30, 8:30-10:30 PM, Pont des Arts
**Ahoy there,**
Next full moon picnic will be Saturday May 30 from 8:30 - 10:30 P.M. Moonrise will be around 10:10 P.M. Sunset around 9:40 PM.
I may not make it back from my tree house in time but never fear, Catherine and Charles will be there to welcome you.
The Pont des Arts is undergoing renovations for the botched renovation 3 years ago that used a poor design to fasten the wood planks. Most of the bridge will remain open full width during the work. We will meet by one of the benches in the open section, which is currently towards the Left Bank side of the bridge. Hard to predict how work will advance over the next week. So finding us may involve a little bit of treasure hunt adventure. Youâre welcome! In the unlikely event we will assemble below on the quai on the Right Bank side.
May is known by American Indians for the Full Flower Moon because of the wide appearance of flowers during this month. It's also known as Full Corn Planting Moon (for obvious reasons) and as the Milk Moon.
Bob, I swear you're just copy pasting that from your last email for our previous Full Moon Picnic.
Yes, thatâs because this is the second full moon of the same month, which only happens once in a blue moon. đ€Ł
**WHAT**: Everyone brings food and drink to share.
**WHERE**: Pont des Arts. We'll gather around the 2nd or 3rd bench from the Right Bank side of the bridge. Nearest metros: Pont Neuf and Louvre-Rivoli.
**WHEN**: Saturday May 30 from 8:30-10:30 P.M.
**WHY**: Share one of the most memorable sights in Paris with some of the nicest people around.
**WHO**: You and your friends.
**THEME**: Blue
**BIRTHDAYS**: Are youâre a Gemini? Bring a cake and let me know so we can celebrate your birthday this month and blow out the worldâs largest birthday candle.
**HOW** to find us: Keep your eyes out for a bunch of lunatics eating, drinking an chatting in English and French.
**PUZZLER**: Raise your hand if youâre vegetarian. Vegan? Beegan?(vegan + honey. I know.) Flexitarian?(occasional meat). Vegan before 6 PM?(yes thatâs actually a thing.) Forget about Omnivore. Forget about Carnivore. How about Cannibal? How about Sausage eating Cannibal? Why are you cringing? You're the product of a Sausage eating Cannibal. Donât try to puzzle this out. Just go ahead and scroll to the answer before your stomach turns queasy.
**PUZZLER ANSWER**: Our galaxy, the Milky Way has become quite large feasting on other smaller galaxies. About 8 billion years ago, a study said, that a smaller dwarf galaxy was gobbled up by a young and hungry Milky Way. The study was not 8 billion years ago (thatâs why the 2 commas) but 8 years ago. The dwarf galaxy was named Gaia Sausage because it was sorta kinda in the shape of a sausage according to the astronomers analyzing the data. They had been up for 2 days without eating and were definitely not vegan.
Turns out that just this month, the Milky Way gobbled up another galaxy, according to a study, 10 billion years ago. (Iâm using commas the way Trump uses legal loopholes.) The poor meal this time is called the Loki galaxy, named after the Norse god of mischief. The remnants of this dwarf galaxy are hard to detect and tricky to explain because the left over stars are moving in opposite directions. Confusing and mischievous.
In this eat or be eaten universe galaxies are cannibalizing each other. So far the Milky Way has eaten its way to an expanding belt-line.
Ciao for niao,

Franklin Park Conservatory / Columbus Brewing Company
**History**
The [Franklin Park Conservatory](https://www.fpconservatory.org/)âs roots trace back to 1852 when the Franklin County Agricultural Society purchased 88 acres of land to host the Ohio State Fair. After the fair moved to its permanent home, the city of Columbus transformed the grounds into Franklin Park in 1884. This transition shifted the space from a temporary event site to a dedicated public green space for the growing community. The park became a central hub for outdoor recreation and early civic gatherings in the neighborhood.
In 1895, the landmark Victorian-style Palm House opened its doors, drawing heavy inspiration from the Glass Palace of the 1893 Worldâs Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This iron and glass structure became an immediate icon, housing exotic plants that residents would otherwise never see in the Midwest. It remains the oldest part of the facility and serves as a primary link to the conservatoryâs 19th-century origins. For decades, it stood as a singular testament to grand horticultural architecture in Central Ohio.
A major turning point arrived in 1992 when Columbus hosted AmeriFlora '92, an international horticultural exhibition. This massive event prompted a $16 million renovation and expansion, adding significantly more greenhouse space and the Dorothy M. Davis Showhouse. The festival put the conservatory on the international map and fundamentally changed its scale and ambition. Following the event, the facility transitioned from a city-run park to a private, non-profit organization.
In 2003, the conservatoryâs identity was further defined through a long-term partnership with world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. After a successful exhibition, the Friends of the Conservatory purchased most of the glass installations, creating the largest permanent collection of Chihulyâs work in a botanical setting. These vibrant glass sculptures are now woven throughout the biomes, blending art with nature. This addition helped cement the conservatory as a premier cultural destination rather than just a botanical garden.
Recent years have seen the site expand beyond the glass walls to emphasize community engagement and outdoor education. The 2018 opening of the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Childrenâs Garden added two acres of interactive landscape designed for hands-on learning. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Community Garden Campus also provides local residents with space to grow their own food and learn sustainable practices. Today, the conservatory balances its historic Victorian charm with modern commitments to local ecology and the Columbus community.
**Maps of the Conservatory**
Here is the [main map](https://www.fpconservatory.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/franklin-park-zones-scaled.jpg) of the Conservatory grounds. Here's a [map of the areas](https://www.fpconservatory.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/ConstructionMap-2026.jpg) in which the Conservatory has ongoing construction (see below).
**Summary**
For this event, we'll explore Columbus's highly-rated and very popular Conservatory. As mentioned above, the Conservatory is doing renovations on parts of the facility. These renovations are scheduled to be ongoing until the Fall of next year.
Basically, no matter when you go to the Conservatory over the next 18 months, you're going to see some metaphorical orange barrels. So let's just go now.
**Tickets and pricing**
On the first Sunday of every month, the Conservatory is free for residents of Franklin County and the city of Columbus. You must bring an ID to receive this discount. (Yes, they do check.) Otherwise, tickets are $25.20.
Members of the Columbus Zoo (of which I am one) do get a discount on tickets, though I have never actually bought a ticket to the Conservatory (I've always gone on free days). I believe the discount is $4.
Parking is always free.
If you have additional questions about pricing or whether and for what you qualify, you can reach the Conservatory at 614-715-8000.
**Where we'll meet**
We will meet just outside the main entrance. I guarantee there's going to be a line. The Conservatory is always popular on free days, and especially in nice weather.
**Your GPS is stupid!**
Be careful simply typing "Franklin Park Conservatory" in your GPS and going where it tells you.
The only way to access the parking lot to the Conservatory is off of Broad Street. Unfortunately, since Google Maps is unable to find its way out of a wet paper bag, it has a tendency to want to take people to a mythical, non-existent Conservatory entrance on Nelson Road.
If your GPS does this, just drive to the north side of the Conservatory along Broad Street. Your GPS should then redirect you to the main Conservatory entrance. If your GPS doesn't, then throw your phone away\* and look for the big Conservatory sign on the south side of Broad Street between Nelson Road and Franklin Park West.
You also should be able to use the map pin I've provided, below, and it should properly direct you to where you need to drive.
\* Don't really do this.
**After the event**
After stopping to smell the roses, for those that are interested, we'll head to the nearby [Columbus Brewing Company Beer Hall](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/) for [drinks](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/#draft-list) and [lunch](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/#food-menu).
The Beer Hall's actual address is [200 Kelton Ave, Columbus, OH 43205](https://www.google.com/maps/place/200+Kelton+Ave,+Columbus,+OH+43205/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x883889a94ac4acad:0xadb2e60240dbc38b?sa=X&ved=1t:242&ictx=111) (it's literally just on the south side of the Conservatory). Be sure this is where your GPS is taking you when you use it, as the Brewing Company has a taproom on Harrison Avenue that is *not* what you want for this event.
We should be at the Beer Hall by 1 if you can't make the Conservatory and just want to join us for drinks.
