Replace Yourself with Agents
How we built an agent that monitors our Buildkite pipelines, reasons about inefficiencies, and raises PRs to fix it. A practical story about trust, confidence thresholds, and what happens when the agent is better at your job than you are.
Talk 3: Saugato Paroi, IT Support Engineer @ PageUp
Building AutoCloud: How I turned "why is deploying so hard?" into an AI-powered platform.
It started with a frustration every developer knows — you build something that works beautifully on your machine, then hit a wall of IAM roles, Terraform files, networking configs, and CI/CD pipelines just to get it live. I watched that gap kill momentum for too many projects, including my own. So I decided to build the tool I wished existed. AutoCloud is an AI-powered platform that takes a local project or Git repo and turns it into a production-ready cloud deployment — no deep infrastructure expertise required. In this talk, I'll walk you through the journey: the problem that sparked it, the architectural decisions, the hard lessons, and how AI made it all possible.
How to find us:
Doors open at 5:45 PM at our host the Mantel Group, Level 2/452 Flinders St, Melbourne. Message via Meetup or Slack if you are arriving after 6:00, as the lifts won't let you up.
This is an in-person only event. If you have any accessibility requirements, please reach out via the Meetup or Slack to the organiser group to discuss, and we will do our best to help you out.

Friday Climb
Hello Climbers!
Just meet at the yellow sign and introduce yourself :) From there we pair up to climb. If we have an odd number of people, we can make a rotating group of 3. There is also a self-belay area if you want to get in more climbing if in a group of 3 or arriving earlier.
If the event you are planning to go to only has one or 2 people on the ‘attending’ list, we encourage organising a climbing partner in advance so you can make sure you have at least one other person there to climb with! Feel free to reach out on the event wall or message a host :)
Meet up will start at 6pm but if you want to start earlier you certainly can, but again you will need to organise a climbing partner in advance.
New climbers are welcome, however your mandatory induction takes about 15/20mins. Harnesses, shoes and chalk bag can be hired also.

Walk & Lunch : Burnley to Molly Rose Brewery | 7.5km @ 5.5km/h
Starting from 'Friends of Mine' cafe in Burnley, we walk along the Yarra Trail for a short 6.6km walk to the Molly Rose Brewery for some lunch.
If you like a morning coffee, arrive earlier to grab a coffee ***before*** the meeting time. We meet at 10:20am for a 10:30am start. If you arrive late or you're waiting for your coffee order, you can catch up on the trail or meet at the destination. We leave on time to ensure we get to the venue as it opens at 12pm.
Winter hiking season starts very soon. If you're new to the group, come along and meet some of the regular hikers and suggest your favorite hiking locations for the coming months.
The pace will be a moderate pace (\~5.5km/h). We will not be stopping often to regroup. I will pause at the turns to help ensure no one misses them. **By attending, you agree to match the pace and stay in sight of the group or be comfortable navigating your own way to the destination.**
With the variability of this kind of event I will book a best guess close to the event and we will find extra tables or seats on the day if needed. We arrive just as the venue opens.
**This is a one way hike and you make your own way home.**
It's recommended you take public transport. The finish location is a short walk from Victoria Park train station, or to nearby 86 trams on Smith St. By attending, you agree to drink responsibly and take public transport if you're drinking.
**What to bring:**
* Water bottle
* Appropriate clothing if it's windy or possibility of rain
* Hats/Sunglasses/Sun protection if it's sunny

"Metal Slinger" by Rachel Schneider
Join us as we discuss our June pick: Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider!
Book description:
Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta–the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people–and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true.
Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart.
