KICK OFF NEW YEARS EVE with a 4 mile walk and early evening NYE DRINKS.
ENJOY A BEGUILING THAMES RIVER and WAPPING CANAL WALK with GREAT VIEWS and intriguing features followed by PUB SOCIALISING and friendly early evening NYE DRINKS in the convivial atmosphere of the Goodmans Field pub.
WALK START POINT: Outside Canary Wharf Tube Station (Jubilee Line). Meetup by the international clocks. Look for Ken with the Kens Events/Meetup Flag/Badge.
WALK ROUTE: From Canary Wharf Tube Station (Jubilee Line), along the North Bank of the Thames to Shadwell Basin, where we will join the Wapping Canal to St Katharines Dock before finishing at the Goodmans Field pub, near Tower Hill, for early evening new year's eve drinks.
WALK DISTANCE: Approx 4 miles.
WALK END POINT: Close to TOWER HILL Tube Station
STOP OUT POINT: Our route goes close to several London bus routes
Social Event:
Our walks are social walks, where the emphasis is on meeting new people, enjoying nature, healthy exercise, and fresh air. Our walks are not interrupted with running commentaries or historical lectures, although occasionally features of significance may be pointed out. As such our walks will be continuous with few stops and it is your responsibilty to keep walkers ahead in view and to follow the direction of the walk. WE ALWAYS END THE WALK AT A PUB WHERE THE SOCIALISING CAN CONTINUE.
RISKS for all walks: Please dress appropriately for weather conditions and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication. You need to be moderately fit for this walk and be able to walk for four miles without a break. In these walks we use; pavements, cross busy roads, public parkland, towpaths alongside water, other public paths, rights of way, bridlepaths, country lanes and other established paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Please only wear good sturdy shoes, preferably walking boots and take care as surfaces may be uneven, tree roots may protrude, there may be low overhanging branches and some paths are also used by joggers and cyclists and sometimes cars (country lanes). Some tracks may be muddy and slippery. On occasion wild,domestic and farm animals may also encountered. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself.
No large dogs or small children please.
Please arrive in good time to allow opportunity to use toilets at the start of the walk as there may not be any toilet breaks available during the walk.

London Society NEW YEAR’S EVE GET TOGETHER - The Sun Wharf
Have you ever wanted to gather together somewhere warm and cosy amongst some food and drinks and good company and make the most out of the evening for the new year before truly embracing the new year with your loved ones? If so, this may be the right one for you.
Welcome back to another festive get together where you have the opportunity to socialise amongst one another, purchase some food and drink (alcoholic and non alcoholic), form friendships and also not feel alone.
New Year’s Eve is also one of the festivals/occasions that unites people but at the same time, there are those who feel lonely out there and are not as lucky as we are. At least here, you’re not alone and hopefully, we can make this a memorable evening before the new year approaches.
Here is the simple itinerary:
6:30pm: Head inside, find our space and socialise as well as have any beverages they offer.
After 6:50pm: Any late comers can come inside and join us.
11:45pm if possible: Head to London Bridge and see the fireworks.

PRECAUTION: The pub and almost all their chains don’t have a booking system so we’ll go with the flow and find our spots where we can.
This pub could also get packed as it’s New Year’s Eve but if we’re together, it should be fine.

Whenever an event takes place, I will cut off contact 20 minutes after the event commences. If you message even 1 minute after the cut off time, I won’t be available as I’m conducting the event.

Those called will be following the ancient practice of holding each other in prayer. This is a non-religious prayer, it is an ancient temple tradition of holding each other in loving thoughts.
Holding each other in prayer is how we come into oneness… it creates amazingly soft protective and beautiful energy around those who share the ceremony. Being in the state of oneness allows for each person to open up beyond their limitations - into the miracle field! When held in this ceremony - the medicine of the human-KIND - heart - means healing goes deeper and manifesting is super-charged.

## 🥾 **New Year Noodle – Vauxhall to Victoria Walk**
See in the last afternoon of the year with a friendly **urban adventure through London’s iconic landmarks and hidden green spaces**. Starting from **Vauxhall Underground Station**, we’ll wander through **Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens** and **Archbishop’s Park**, then cross the **Westminster Bridge** for skyline views of Big Ben and the **Palace of Westminster**.
We’ll pause in **Deans Yard** beside **Westminster Abbey**, stroll through the serene **College Garden**, **St John’s Gardens**, and **Millbank Gardens**, then follow leafy paths through **Pimlico** and the **Churchill Gardens Wildflower Meadow**. The route continues via elegant **Warwick Square** before finishing at **Victoria Station**, just in time for an optional celebratory drink at **The Willow Walk Pub**.
A relaxed, social 10 km stroll to close out 2025, perfect for meeting like-minded Londoners and soaking up the festive spirit before the fireworks begin!

New Year's Day Chanting Event with Gayatri
**Welcome the New Year 2026 Together**
Begin the year in a clear and grounded way through Sanskrit chants, rainbow songs, shamanic chants, and voicework. This New Year’s Day gathering offers a simple and steady space to arrive, reset, and align with the energy of the year ahead.
Mantras are traditional Sanskrit sound formulas used in meditation. Their vibration helps calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and bring the body into a state of balance. Chanting in a group strengthens this effect, creating a shared field of stability, clarity, and gentle uplift.
**The Energy of 2026**
2026 carries a theme of integration, rebuilding, and clearer direction. Many describe it as a year for grounding new intentions, strengthening foundations, and choosing alignment over distraction. Beginning the year with sound and intention can support focus, coherence, and inner steadiness as the year opens.
**What to Expect**
The venue is a short 5-minute walk from Elephant & Castle and Borough stations.
We open and close with guided meditation.
After the opening meditation, each person is invited to set an intention or dedication for the practice. These are released with a shared AUM.
Each chant is followed by a short period of silence, giving the body and mind time to absorb the sound.
We end with a closing meditation to settle the energy and anchor the tone for the year ahead.

Gayatri’s sound and voicework are amazing gifts to this universe and I’ve been lucky to experience them on number of occasions. I was completely new to chanting but her approach is very relaxed and easygoing. I grew up believing I’m terrible at singing but as Gayatri says – “It’s not singing, it’s chanting…!” so just go along with it and enjoy the experience.

"God knows from now on what chanting will bring into my life or where will take me to, but for sure what I know is that the sound of the human voice and drums is something that really uplifts and connects me with my deepest and broadest self. It's a kind of a working paradox that happens to me during chanting: I feel a kind of moving stillness, that's very realigning and unifying.

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process.
Fast track
• Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell).
• Show up and try it out.
• Complete application, etc. later.
Normal process
• Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/).
• Attend orientation in advance.
• At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility.
• Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM.
• Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895).
The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went?
Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence?
Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp.

Join Wild Ones Columbus for their annual native seeds swap. If you have native seeds to share, please label them with the Latin name and common name. The seeds don’t need to be removed from the seed head if you aren’t sure how to do it, but remove as much stem as possible.
Bringing seeds is not required. Bring bags or envelopes to store seeds.

If you have native seeds to share, label each species with this information:
* Botanical Name
* Common Name
Species we will accept:
* Species native to our ecoregion (8.2.4) - Best
* Species native to Ohio and surrounding states - Good
* Straight species only - no cultivars.
The seeds don’t need to be removed from the seed head if you aren’t sure how to do it, but don’t leave much stem on the seed heads.
Please email the list of species to Mary May so we can prepare information for attendees. You can bring the seeds on the day of the swap, or we can arrange to have them picked up beforehand - just let her know in the email.
If you don’t have any seeds to bring, no worries. If you are new to native plants or didn't have time to collect seeds, there are ALWAYS plenty from those that do bring them! We love to see "newbies" at our seed exchange! Also, remember to bring something to put seeds in such as envelopes, paper bags or containers.
