What we're about

Climate Cafés are an incredibly simple idea. They’re opportunities to meet with a facilitator and talk about our responses to climate change. The organisers provide a space, a facilitator, and some cake; you arrive at the start time (good to be prompt if you can), get yourself a hot drink and join in. You can come to one Climate Café or several. You don't need to be a climate activist. Low Carbon Oxford North hosts and facilitates the Climate Café; we won’t be giving out any information or expecting you to change your lifestyle or opinions, or do anything except listen and talk with each other.

Climate Cafés are an initiative from Low Carbon Oxford North (also on Meetup: https://www.meetup.com/Low-Carbon-Oxford-No ...). We have noticed that it can be difficult to talk about climate change with friends and family, and Climate Cafés are designed to provide a space to do just that - with no pressure, and no judgement. See you there!

Climate Cafés provide a supportive space in which to talk about how the climate crisis is affecting us – without pressure to act. Climate Cafés are organised and funded by Low Carbon Oxford North, a registered charity (www.lcon.org.uk). You can join LCON's separate Meetup group here: https://www.meetup.com/Low-Carbon-Oxford-North/ We think our Climate Cafés offer something different from the usual gatherings of people with interests in climate change. They are facilitated – so you can be sure that there will be space for you to speak. They are not designed to recruit you to do anything or to put you under any pressure. The idea behind them is that talking about climate change is really important – but it is often made more difficult by our feelings of guilt that we are not doing enough, or frustration that others are not doing enough. So we provide a space in which we don’t talk about what we or others are doing or should be doing. We just talk about climate change and how it is making us think and feel. Everyone is welcome. Please arrive in good time for the group to start at[masked]
