As one of the world’s leading experts on South African wines, Tim Atkin MW produces an annual Special South Africa Report highlighting the best producers and wines from this country. Based on his report, this tasting will showcase wines he has selected to appear in his list of First and Second Growths as well as a group of producers he has highlighted as ‘Rising Stars’ – the ones to watch. [Amelie's Wine House](https://www.amelieswinehouse.co.uk/) is a cosy, highly rated, Southern French-style wine house in Bloomsbury, which opened in 2021. **Philippe Brugon is an artisanal champagne producer** who owns vineyards in the 1er cru villages of Rilly-la-Montagne (where his winery is based) and Ecueil in the Montagne de Reims. I have taken several groups there during the tours to Champagne which I organise, so I can vouch for the quality of his champagnes! Together with his UK importer Julian White, Philippe will be presenting **a fabulous tasting of 8 of his champagnes accompanied by some delicious canapes.** Here is the full line-up: Brut Non-Vintage (NV) Cuvée Elégance NV Rosé Brut NV 2019 Vintage 2018 Vintage 2016 Vintage 2015 Vintage Cuvée Crysta Blanc de Blancs 2015 This will include a fascinating opportunity to compare 4 different years of his vintage cuvée. We will go to see Romería, Carla Simón’s third feature – nominated in 6 categories at the 2026 Goya Awards – is the concluding episode of the filmmaker’s semi-autobiographical trio of films exploring her upbringing and family history. Set on the Galician coast in the early 2000s, the film follows 18-year-old Marina, who travels to Vigo in search of information about her biological father; she is seeking his death certificate to be able to apply for a scholarship to film school. Reconnecting with her paternal side of the family, she discovers a huge amount of shame and secrecy around his death. Reading from her biological mother’s diary entries from her youth, Marina takes the opportunity to uncover what she can about her parents’ relationship with the estranged family, and discovers the reason for their secrecy.
