Brc20s, Runes and Alkanes
BRC20, Runes & Alkane tokens, and a number of other more obscure protocols, form a class of tokens which Bitcoin users compete to mint (by paying transaction fees)
Since March 2023 BRC20, Runes and Alkane tokens, have dominated Bitcoin usage, comsuming roughly 1/5 of Bitcoin Blockspace producede during this period.
And yet their impact is barely discussed and understood.
In this meetup I will share explanations, analytics and insights and discuss the history and the future of these tokens.
Are these tokens senseless spam or do they present on of the greatest unmet opportunities in the Bitcoin and Crypto space? Learn the ground facts for yourself and make up your own mind!
**About the presenter**
Antoine "The Blockspace Baron" is co-founder of Bitcoin Bay, and one of the largest inscribers of Bitcoin Blockspace in the world.
CFI Toronto Hangout: Mondays
As I looked under CFI’s Mission, Vision, and Values, the phrase ‘**community**’ stood out in the opening line. Then, I found it repeated seven more times, all within a short description.
Elsewhere, CFI informs us we run ‘open’ and ‘friendly’ discussions in ‘safe and hospitable’ environments for everyone. And 'Critical Thinking' is, you might say, the backbone for starting any discussion.
But while we all know what thinking is, how is **critical thinking** different? Especially in matters that are not quantitatively measurable?
As humans, thankfully, we are born curious – we probably won’t have learnt to crawl on four to experience our body and the world around us. We all are capable of being forever-curious – and therefore seeing through the evidence methodically. That is a good start for any talk no matter how complex it may seem. If it’s a human problem, we may not solve it, but surely can think through it critically. That’s a big, and hopeful, first step!
Tantalizing? Let’s Talk!

Is Yellowstone About to Erupt? (Spoiler Alert: Not Anytime Soon)
Is Yellowstone National Park really on the verge of a massive eruption? It’s one of the most common questions volcanologists get—and in this session, you’ll learn how to answer it yourself. In this talk, we’ll break down how volcanoes work, why eruptions happen, and how scientists know when one might be coming. Along the way, we’ll tackle common misconceptions and show how monitoring keeps us informed and safe. By the end, you’ll leave with the tools to answer this question like a volcanologist—and maybe correct a few myths along the way.
For this meetup Silvia Castilla is returning to the Knowledge Sharing Club to
share her expertise.
Silvia Castilla is a PhD student in the Earth Sciences department at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on volcanology and isotope geochemistry to understand the processes that occur before volcanic eruptions. Her PhD project involves studying rocks from around the world, conducting stable isotope analyses, and applying these techniques to determine how long it takes for a volcano to erupt.

I will post the location as we get closer to the date.
Skeptics in the Pub Toronto - In-Person Event
\*\* We are moving to heylo.com. Please join us there to sign up for any upcoming events (although you will still be able to sign up on Meetup for the next couple of months). \*\*
We will be holding our monthly in-person Skeptics in the Pub event on the second Tuesday of every month. We are an informal group of scientific skeptics who promote critical thinking, reason, and empirical evidence, advocating for the scientific method to evaluate claims while opposing pseudoscience, superstition, and anecdotal evidence.
We will get together for a social event to say hello to people we may have only met on-line, to reconnect with some long-time acquaintances, and to meet new people who may be interested in skepticism. We will not be having a presentation or a speaker, just a chance to sit down and have a meal and/or a beverage and a conversation with a pleasant group of fellow skeptics.
(Monthly on-line Zoom meetings will continue as usual, on the third Friday of every month).
Our previous venue, Prenup Pub, has closed, so we will meet this month at a **new location**, The Frog: A Firkin Pub, 4854 Yonge St, North York, ON M2N 5N2. Google Maps says it is about a 3-minute walk (200 m) from Sheppard-Yonge subway station, north of Sheppard, on the west side of Yonge.
Food and beverages are available from the menu. Foods include a full menu from soups, salads, and appetizers to burgers, sandwiches, entrées and dessert. The beverage menu includes about16 different beers on tap, many bottled beers, ciders, seltzers, and coolers, as well as a selection of wines, various cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.
When you arrive, just ask where the "Skeptics" are. We will probably be at the "Silly Walks" table. If you plan on joining us, please register so we can estimate the number of attendees.

KSUG.AI x Agentic DevOps with Claude Code & Codex - Jun 11 2026

The real shift is happening with agentic DevOps workflows using tools like Claude Code and the OpenAI Codex App — systems that can reason across repositories, plan multi-step changes, modify infrastructure, and operate much closer to how real engineers actually build.
This session is designed for both beginners and practitioners.
You’ll walk away with practical patterns for:
• workflow design
• context management
• infrastructure changes
• reducing unstructured “vibe coding”
• building more reliable AI-assisted engineering workflows
Honestly, not using agentic tooling in DevOps today is starting to feel a bit like refusing to use the internet in 2003.
This isn’t about hype.
It’s about leverage.
And it’s an incredible time to be a builder — especially if you build with agents.
🍕 Come by at 5:30 PM for pizza and chats.
🎤 Presentation starts at 6:00 PM.

Conscious Living ~ An Experiential Community Program for Embodied Consciousness
### **“Conscious Living”**
**An Experiential Community Program for Embodied Consciousness**
**Resuming Thursday, May 21, 2026**
**On break:** June 4, 2026 **\| Summer break:** July & August 2026
**Thursdays, 7:30 PM (in person)**
**Facilitator:** Sophia Barna, M.Ed., M.S.W.
**Location: Toronto Theosophical Society,** 792 Glencairn Ave., Toronto, ON **(Basement Room)**
“Conscious Living” is a weekly experiential program that bridges the study of consciousness with the practical realities of everyday life. Rooted in the *Map of Consciousness* developed by David R. Hawkins and *A Course in Miracles (ACIM)*, this program invites participants to move beyond theory into lived, embodied awareness.
Together, we explore what it means to live “in the world, but not of it” — grounded, present, and engaged, while rooted in higher awareness.
The Map of Consciousness serves as our reference point. Each meeting focuses on a specific state of consciousness, blending study and practice so participants not only understand these states intellectually, but also learn to embody and live them in daily life.
In addition to the Map of Consciousness, A Course in Miracles (ACIM) provides a complementary framework for the program. ACIM offers practical spiritual principles for transforming perception, cultivating forgiveness, and recognizing the inner guidance of love and truth. Its teachings emphasize the shift from fear to love, the release of judgment, and the practice of conscious choice in every moment.
Our gatherings are grounded in the states of Love, Joy, and Gratitude, corresponding to the elevated energy field of 540 on the Map of Consciousness. From this frequency of openness and lightness, we come together to uplift, inspire, and grow in awareness — individually and collectively.
### **✨A Potluck for the Body, Heart, Mind & Soul🌈**
Each session is designed as a holistic experience — nourishing all dimensions of being:
* **🪷 Food for the Soul:** Guided meditation, self-reflection, and self-inquiry
* **🧠 Food for the Mind:** Lectures, presentations, and meaningful group discussions
* **✨ Food for the Body:** Embodied practices (movement and dance meditations), singing, chanting
* **💗 Food for the Heart:** Love-centered connecting and sharing
### **🌸What to Expect**
Together, we will explore different states of consciousness through:
* Lectures and presentations
* Guided meditation
* Self-reflection
* Group discussions
* Movement and dance meditation
* Singing and chanting
### **🌸What to Bring**
1. Coloured clothes — each week a specific colour (ROGVAIV rainbow sequence: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet). *This is an encouraged part of the experience, not mandatory.*
2. Silk or large dancing scarf/veil
3. Notebook, journal, or paper with pens, crayons, markers
4. Your highest vibrational presence in love, joy, and gratitude
This is a space where learning becomes lived experience — where insight meets embodiment.
*To uphold universal brotherhood without distinction and freedom of thought, all elements of the evening are invitational. Participants may opt out of any component and still be welcome, as long as we engage with one another respectfully.*
*This is a participatory series with optional components. In keeping with TTS values, you are welcome to opt in or opt out of any element, and the central expectation is mutual respect.*
### **Reference Texts**
1. Hawkins, D. R. (2012). Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender. Carlsbad, CA: Hay House.
2. Foundation for Inner Peace. (1976). A Course in Miracles. Mill Valley, CA: Foundation for Inner Peace.
3. Barna, S. (2025). Flying Home: Soul Stories for the Little One Within. Toronto: LightPath Publishing.
**Registration:** TTS Study Groups, ts.study.to@gmail.com
Registration **optional** (for updates and materials). Walk-ins welcome.
### **About the Facilitator:**
**Sophia Barna** is an educator and facilitator with a long-standing interest in the relationship between inner life and everyday life: how spiritual principles become livable, embodied realities rather than abstract ideas. Her work bridges consciousness research, reflective inquiry, and practical methods for self-observation and inner transformation. Her background includes graduate training in education and social work, and advanced professional training in EMDR.
In “Conscious Living,” she draws on the Map of Consciousness (as developed by David R. Hawkins) and the spiritual psychology of A Course in Miracles, inviting participants to explore themes such as presence, perception, forgiveness, and the cultivation of love, joy, and gratitude through shared practice and dialogue. Her facilitation style is heart-centered, clear, and experiential, with space for participants to learn through reflection, discussion, and embodied exercises.
***Important distinction:*** While Sophia’s clinical experience, education, and skills shape how she holds the space and communicates, this series does not constitute EMDR therapy, psychotherapy or a clinical solution for mental or emotional problems. It is a group experience offered in the spirit of service and public learning, and it should not replace care from a licensed provider in a private and confidential therapeutic relationship.

Battle of the personal agents
Join the Columbus AI community for a special event.
**Battle of the Personal Agents** is your chance to see what people are actually building with AI agents and personal automation systems. Whether you’re running OpenClaw, Hermes, or a completely custom solution, bring your agent and show the community how it works.
We’re interested in real-world implementations: the problems your agent solves, how you use it day-to-day, how it’s hosted and managed, how you built it, and why you’ve chosen to keep using it. Live demonstrations are encouraged, so be prepared to show your code, architecture, workflows, and your agent performing real tasks.
This is less about polished presentations and more about sharing practical experience, comparing approaches, and learning from one another. If you’d like to present, please contact Chris Slee (via meetup) before the event so we can allocate enough time for everyone’s demonstrations.
Come ready to show what you’ve built, discover what others are doing, and maybe find a few ideas worth taking home.
Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
