BRC20, Runes & Alkane tokens, and a number of other more obscure protocols, form a class of tokens which Bitcoin users compete to mint (by paying transaction fees) Since March 2023 BRC20, Runes and Alkane tokens, have dominated Bitcoin usage, comsuming roughly 1/5 of Bitcoin Blockspace producede during this period. And yet their impact is barely discussed and understood. In this meetup I will share explanations, analytics and insights and discuss the history and the future of these tokens. Are these tokens senseless spam or do they present on of the greatest unmet opportunities in the Bitcoin and Crypto space?
