Dawn Chorus Vigil on Tooting Common
"The radical otherness of birds is integral to their beauty and their value. They are always among us but never of us. Their indifference to us ought to serve as a chastening reminder that weโre not the measure of all things.โ Jonathan Franzen
The dawn chorus is like a never-ending wave of thanksgiving and joy that goes round the earth 24 hours a day, seven days a week and fifty-two weeks of the year. Science tells us there are three reasons why birds sing: to advertise their strengths, to attract a mate and to defend territory. How reductionist. That's only half the story! Birds sing because they can. It's their gift, their song of thanks and joy. Thanks that they have survived the night, the cold, the predators.
This vigil is an opportunity to experience the beauty and mystery of dawn chorus birdsong in spring as it first emerges and then climbs to a joyous crescendo. The vigil is followed by a talk and discussion about birdsong, the spirituality and folklore of birds and their place in creation.
Wrap up warm bring a blanket and a sit mat to ensure you're warm and comfortable. we'll meet at the entrance to the Tooting Common Athletics track at 5am

Queer Crafts: Creative Type Workshop
**Details**:
The tradition of illustrating with type dates back to the earliest documents and manuscripts. For this workshop bring along with you a favourite (succinct and short) quote, line of poetry or prose that inspires you and during the afternoon, together we will transform it into a creative artwork.
Steve, a forum member and practising designer and illustrator will introduce you to alphabet type font sheets and guide you on how to trace off your selected line of prose and transfer it onto another surface of your choice, allowing you to then to decorate with colour, collage, or both, for a personal take home piece to display!
During the workshop you will also be invited individually to experience writing with a calligraphic pen and ink with Steveโs guidance.
All materials will be supplied, just remember to bring your inspirational text!

The Story So Far: A WiA Reflection Circle
A WiA Collective Wisdom Exchange
At the start of this year, we gathered to look back, set intentions, and imagine the next chapter.
This is the follow-up.
Not a check-in. Not a progress report. A small, facilitated circle to reconnect with what you said mattered โ and honestly explore whatโs actually happening now.
Together, weโll explore:
โข What you intended at the start of this year - and what that looks like three months in
โข Whatโs surprised you, supported you, or shifted
โข What the next chapter needs now that you know what you know
If you were at our January gathering, bring whatever you made or wrote โ your word, your artifact, your intention. Weโll look at it with fresh eyes. If this is your first time, you belong here too. Youโll start where we all started: with whatโs true right now.
Optional art materials will be available for anyone who wants to reflect creatively alongside conversation. If you brought something home from January, youโre warmly invited to bring it back.
The intention is the same as always: everyone leaves feeling more clear, more connected, and a little lighter.
Space is intentionally limited to keep the experience intimate.
What to Expect
โข A small, welcoming circle (not a large meetup)
โข Structured conversation so everyone has space to speak
โข Reflection, listening, and lived experience โ not advice-giving
โข Optional creative reflection alongside conversation
โข A calm, supportive environment
Who This Is For
Women and underrepresented folks working in or around agile, product, technology, leadership, or organizational change โ especially those looking for honest conversation and community beyond frameworks and buzzwords.
Good to Know
โข No preparation required
โข If you attended in January, we invite you to bring anything you created or wrote (or something that represents your intention at the start of the year) - itโs optional but invited
โข Participation is invitational; listening is always welcome
โข Creative activities are optional
